My best friend in high school (in 1979) was dating an incredibly nice girl, Michelle. When they broke up (mutually), Michelle started running with a wilder crowd. Soon after the split, one night at a party she rode on the hood of a car on a dare, fell off, and hit her head. She seemed OK, but had a headache. She made it home, went to sleep, and never woke up. Brain bleed. She died a day later.
Just because YOU survived doesn't mean EVERYONE survived.

Those are 1960s cars. There was a time when that was a rite of passage. I had a 1959 Vauxhall estate wagon and got 11 teenagers in it.

The crazy shit people in Italy used to do with Piaggio Ape (pronounced "ah-pay", not ape)in the 70s and 80s when I was a kid... you'd see like six people riding in the pickup bed three or four in the cab... 700 foot drop on the right and pebbles for guardrails and people would have half the family going out for an picnic at the beach stuffed in one of these...

In the 1970's my dad let us ride on the roof rack of our Mini similar to the one below. We lived in a small village in Scotland so no one really cared about speed limits, road safety ( we would drive on the road when we were 14 ), or drunk driving and that's also probably the reason that as a teenager 3 of my friends were killed in separate road accidents.

That’s called survivorship bias. Pretty fucking insulting when your family member was knocked off of a car while riding like that and you get to see a 16 year old’s you grew up with get his skull crushed.
