That's the cognitive dissonance. I have heard the same person in the same conversation say both that capitalism works because people are inherently selfish and that businesses wouldn't do bad things for money bc we've advanced and learned. The culture here worships the invisible hand as a benevolent diety. It is fucking idiotic.
Cup is below surface of the green. You are correct though that his ball did make contact with the edge of the hole which is technically part of the green.
It's a Saudi Golf League. LIV only means 54 in roman numerals, as they play three rounds of 18 holes, a 3 day tournament instead of typical golf tournaments lasting four days. Golfers joined with purse amount being greater than tournaments they normally played. (Less golf/more money)
The Saudi Investment Fund (PIF) stood up a small golf league and poached 30 top players a few years ago by paying them millions. The venture is not profitable and they lose like a billion a year on the investment. Bad ratings, no sponsors. Their goal/strategy (same with F1 and soccer) is to normalize business relationships with Saudi Arabia and basically forge business partnerships with the other major brands in these sports. It’s “sportswashing” their brutal public policies.
If you see the Saudi investment fund listed as a sponsor alongside Rolex, IBM, it normalizes them as an upstanding part of the normal business environment, and it also affords them the opportunity to network with these major brands to continue to normalize their presence in business even though their public policies around slave labor, religion, and law are crazy (in comparison to western views)
I'd be happy to! The royal family of the House of Saud (the dictators of Saudi Arabia) use their "Public Investment Fund" to buy into all sorts of things to make sure that the royal family stays obscenely wealthy after the oil runs out. They use that money for a lot of investment but also for things that try to paint them in a better light. One of those is the LIV Golf League. It was a privately owned golf tournament which was setup to compete against the player-owned and player-focused PGA Tour
I'd be worried if I had stake in the leagues. They try and block the saudis from trying to buy in and they just turn around and poach players for stupid amounts of cash and make their own sports league lol
They gave a number of top tier PGA players obscene amounts of money to come play on their tour and they played a bunch of exhibition golf tournaments. The entire goal of this was to try to get the public to view the Saudi dictatorship in a nicer light.
REOJackwagon
But it was touching green right at the start

The caption made me assume he was being filmed playing golf and pretended to hit a good shot but didn't even hit the green. Boy was I wrong.

It’s called capitalism which Americans love so much, except when it is to their disadvantage. 😂

I'm fairly certain that the jury has returned the verdict of "Corruption" rather than capitalism.
5v4297j9fj1
Same thing
Whoisthisdoctorwho2000
It certainly can be, such is our world comrade
JackieTreehornProductions
Wrong - it did hit the green because the cup is a part of the green.
ROBOTvsMAN

That's exactly what I mean. She's part of the earth now. Damn I should start selling my services as a psychic. Do you want to know more?

Jamesstin

yellowdog214
From what i gather it is the Saudi golf league. No bueno.
loma45
It's a golf tour (think PGA) funded by Saudi Arabia, primarily to whitewash and westernize their image. Similar to the Riyadh comedy festival.

But you chose to hate on Saudi, right? Actually you already answered my earlier question. Thanks.
