When I was in high school and in a band, the indoor skatepark near my house hosted live bands like every weekend, and there were coffee shops that had stages for bands to play on and areas for crowds to stand and watch. Also bars with live music for the over 21 crowd. That was in the 2000s. Those places stopped existing eventually.
