My sweet boy is going to rest now.

This is Beau. He has been my wife's constant companion for the last 15 years. I've been lucky enough to spend the last 7 years as part of that team, but in a couple minutes he'll be gone. On Thanksgiving Beau started acting a little off and by Monday he had stopped eating and started trying hide. I got him to the vet right away and they started tests and fluids and did everything they could for him. Unfortunately when his rest results came back they confirmed our worst fears. His liver and kidneys were shot. An ultrasound confirmed a tumor on his liver. His chances were slim to none so we've decided to do the compassionate thing and have him put to sleep. He came home last night and spent most of his time on the bed with my wife and when she went to sleep he and I relocated and I eneded up staying up with him all night. I'm currently at the vet waiting to be called back to a room. I will hold him and it will break me, but he deserves at least that much. I don't know if anyone will see this, but if you do hug your pets for me.
