What always stuck me about WMD was they were so incompetent they couldn't even come up with a plausible evidence plant post facto to justify that massacre. The competence level has not increased since then :D

This is Trump's attempt at the Gulf of Tonkin Incident which was the excuse for the US to go to war with North Vietnam. A few Vietnamese patrol boats supposedly attacked a couple US destroyers doing SIGINT. There is no proof that ever happened. Now Trump is having US special forces blow up Venezuelan civilian boats (not the way we normally counter drug trafficking) in the hopes Venezuela actually takes a shot at US forces. And thus an excuse for war.
