For "the" democracy? For "managed democracy", or super earth, or liberty, yeah... But unless I missed some propaganda from my democracy officer, I think she might be an automaton in disguise. Are we sure shes not a 12' tall cyborg from cyberstan whos bodybuilder jacked and covered in bulky metal plates?
Turned this game on for the first time today. After the first hour all I could say was, "What do you MEAN you can't disband the group as the party leader?!"
Well, sorta. If you're on the ship and leave the group, it gets disbanded and everyone goes to their own ships. If you're in a mission, it doesn't. The question is, why would you force a disband instead of just leaving?
Fascism makes a cool cosplay, haha, right guys? Love me some fascism cosplays. Stormtroopers, Helldivers, Nazis, all just great fascist cosplays, haha.
Love some fascism. :)
(Bitter sarcasm, fascism sucks and wearing fascism as a cosplay sucks.)
Most of the folks dressing as the fascists actually don't get the joke, actually.
Takes not being a shitfuck to understand that those who see fascism and then go "HEY THAT'S COOL I WANNA DRESS LIKE A FASCIST" tend to not, as a general rule, think fascism is bad.
If only Helldivers was some sort of parody, Like it was making fun of fascism and how it mindlessly kills its own people. Or had little lore its about how the Class-A citizens, who are the wealthiest 1% of citizens, bought alien eggs as trophy pieces or status symbols and unleashed a bug infestation that killed millions of people but it's totally not their fault cause Class-A citizens are super rich and that means they're always good and right.
No, because Nazis actually existed in reality. Starship Troopers and Helldivers are works of fiction and I can tell the difference between the two. You should develop that skill for yourself.
Dumfuck ass reply, "oh you don't like fascism and wearing fascism as a costume, I bet you didn't understand starship troopers was a critique of fascism and a condemnation of the original author"
I'm going to practice empathy here and say that, to an extent, I get your point. I enjoy Warhammer 40k and so much of that features fascism, and so many of its fans don't seem to understand that the fascist elements are being criticized.
That said, there is a major difference between real life and fiction. There's also a major presumption being made on your part that wearing the outfit of a fictional fascist faction = supporting fascist ideals. You are presuming maliciousness for no reason.
I'm not actually saying, in that comment, that the outfit supports fascist ideals, I just think fascism-as-a-costume sucks.
That said, in more downvoted, deeper, comments I do also assert a belief that the people who see the fascist characters and then go "I wanna dress like the fascist bad guys" are probably more likely to love fascism.
But the main comment is just a critique of using fascism as a costume directly.
Look, I get the idea, but you're also flat wrong. Helldivers is unique in your critiques due to the widely recognized parody aspect of the property.
Primarily, unlike your other points, Stormtroopers, etc, each of those cosplays is about "the core property here is cool" meanwhile, Helldivers are clowns. Unlike SS Troopers, the average person knows that Helldivers is a parody and laughing at fascism is one of the most powerful ways of destroying it.
So in your initial comment here, is the issue that there is a piece of media that is functionally using fascism as a costume or is the issue that specific individuals cosplay as something featured in the media? Or is it something else? Because I think either answer to that question is a bit unreasonable; media should not be censored from showing fascist elements and someone wearing... y'know, a xenomorph costume isn't pro laying-eggs-in-someone's-chest-cavity. Sometimes people just like designs.
I don't understand your first question, my first comment was pretty clear on that I felt. Can you review it and tell me how it doesn't answer the question?
Your initial comment was quite clear, however your response to me was confusing and the question was more rhetorical in nature. I'm wondering where exactly the line is; if I dress as a stormtrooper because I am an actor in a film that millions of people will see, is that not maybe even *more* problematic/damaging than someone dressing as one for cosplay? Especially if I'm playing a sympathetic stormtrooper.
I think it's really silly to compare fiction to real life as if it is interchangeable. I think the jump in logic from dressing as a fictional thing to supporting all of what that thing represents is silly.

You can, actually. What you do is you shoot them, then leave.

You can kick the other three individuals in the menu. You just can't disband the whole thing in one button push.

You're right, it takes 2. Alt + F4 will disband the party and kick them back to their own ships

If only lore mattered to how people actually engage with teehee wearing fascism as a costume, but it doesn't.
DickBackBreaker
You're one of the ones who didn't get Starship Troopers, aren't you?
ThingsThatDontJustifyGenocide
No, those are the ones who dress up as starship troopers, nazis, stormtroopers, and helldivers.
The people who do get it recognize fascism as bad.
SinStar87
would you say the same if she was in a sexy nazi ss uniform?
DickBackBreaker
No, because Nazis actually existed in reality. Starship Troopers and Helldivers are works of fiction and I can tell the difference between the two. You should develop that skill for yourself.

Also, I find the xenomorph comparison really silly.
Xenomorphs aren't real.
Fascists are.

They're fascists, though, and fascism is still real.
