Ayup, it's shedding season with my two as well. I can't recommend enough getting a cat/fur/whatever brush. By occasionally brushing down the cat(s), you can capture the shed hair at its source and dispose of it immediately, instead of it gradually accumulating in the environment and forming small drifts or clogging air filters. It also enhances the bond between cat and human and makes them so so soft to stroke.

That's too funny. I worked in film/tv in the eighties and on. Just my opinion but, short girls rock just as much as tall girls. It's all those ones in the mushy middle that are bringing down the curve

Dust and hair building up on the coils causes strain on the condenser and will shorten it's life span.

I am currently between pets but previously had a small 'non-shedding' dog (RIP Sierra <3). Cleaning the fridge coils is definitely something I try to do at least once a year, it's insane how much dust gets back there and bogs everything down, pet hair is just icing on the dust bunny cake.
