No its inhospitable from November to April, anywhere from minneapolis to duluth along I 35 is still probably the best place to live in the midwest though.
No wonder there were so many Finns and other nordics.
Are there that many Finns up there? I always think of the UP Michigan as their second homeland.
Yeah, I live about 55 miles NW of the city of Finland. To quote a Finnish crony of mine, who was having a laugh over St Urho's day,
"The stupid Finns moved from the worst farming land in Europe to the worst farming land in America and started to farm."
