When I started using Google, around '99, I was blown away by the search results compared to using (iirc) the Netscape search engine. Advised it to everyone and converted dozens... Now it is just a big disappointment. First hit ( I repeat: FIRST HIT) just assumes I am an illiterate moron who can't spell a word. Why Google? WHY??? If I type 4 words and hit the "Google Search"button, a webpage that actually contains all said 4 words is somewhere on page 5 of the search results.
I've tried others, Bing sucks at least just as bad and so far no other comes close to my (maybe by now idealised???) idea of what Google used to be.
(BTW, I was on a 10Mb wired connection back then (University Campus), it was only in the early 2000's that I had to resort to 56k dialup...)

This. I tried to find ROM prices in 2000, I know the information exists, but Google thought I must be mistaken and only searched on RAM.

Google search has been SEO'd completely out of usefulness. I've had better luck with Duck Duck Go.

I'm gonna second that. Brave search works well, too.
