#memes #socially_awesome_awkward_penguin The only reason the US has ever opposed the Cuban socialist system is because it threatens corporate assets. The US wants a fascist dictatorship in Cuba and every other Latin American country.
spiderjohn36
The PRIMARY reason the U.S. has ever opposed socialist countries is due to American corporate interests.

The origon of US animosity towards Cuba started because of the slave revolts, didn't it?
MoonAmericanFloydHeywoodR
The current United States policy trying to destroy Cuba was put in place by President Eisenhower in his final months in office. He and his corporate buddies were terrified of Latin American countries no longer bending to the will of US corporations. They put an embargo or partial embargo on importing Cuban sugar, which was designed to bring Fidel Castro‘s revolution down, but it caused him to become a client state of the Soviet Union. So it backfired, just as every US attempt to hurt Cuba has.

I don't get it. Cuba has been embargoed for decades. They aren't a trading partner. How could our tariffs affect them?
CaldariBob
Trump has threatened tariffs against any country that won't go along with his embargo.
MidoryMoon
Ah, so as of January 29th, Trump issued an executive order declaring that the United States could tariff any and all fuel going to Cuba, from any country. Under this guise, the US has currently created a very real fuel blockade against the country and is currently preventing any fuel ship from arriving at the country. Currently Cuba is utilizing its emergency fuel supplies to keep vital areas like hospitals running, however it's unknown how long that will last.

Hmmm strange isnt cuba one of the last few countries not part of our shady banking system?
MoonAmericanFloydHeywoodR
Cuba has bern affected by the international banking system, which has required the country to accept considerable inequality in incomes, compared to the days of Soviet support. It’s unfortunate, but still a vastly better situation than Haitians or Puerto Ricans endure.
theworldcouldbeflat
Lol you mean the shady Canadian banking system.
Kenbamazingbutprobablywontbe
Most banking systems are run by the same people. So yes. Canada's banking system is shady. We have so much debt like the united states. Its going to be a bad fall.
theworldcouldbeflat
Yes they are run by Canadians was my point.
Kenbamazingbutprobablywontbe
Our system is more regulated than the American system. So if we're in trouble i couldn't imagine how bad countries like America are.
theworldcouldbeflat
Canadian regulations are actually what has led to it's banks leading in the world, so they didn't need bailouts in 2008.
