lol, made me chuckle

(though I'm also not from a country where this would be a realistic scenario).

As a non-binary SA survivor, it bugs me that this is framed as a justified response. Like "you believe this about rape so the same logic should apply to murder" when the joke doesn't bother to set up that the person shot believes that. They just draw that person with typically masculine features and we're supposed to assume they're a rape apologist based on that. Which, y'know, is pretty fucked up.

I don’t think the comic is saying that the shooting victim deserves to be treated this way. I think it’s just pointing out how ridiculous the reaction is.
Like, it’s obviously stupid to blame the victim when they get shot. So why do we tolerate victim blaming when they get SAed?

You are not wrong, but they didnt have much space, just four vignettes. Still, I suppose they could have sacrified the last vignette and inserted one before the first where he was going with the usual "she was asking for it" bullshit and got shot mid sentence.

Here’s the thing though; you can add more panels.

Honestly I feel like if you ARE wearing a bullet proof vest then you are asking to be shot.

1 day ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 35

I do not put on my seatbelt hoping to be in a car accident.

17 hours ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

So cops are looking to get shot by that logic.

17 hours ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Sneakers are only gor athletic people.

12 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

At what point does that logic stop? Are people who wear protective equipment at work asking for an accident that would require said equipment?

23 hours ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

But they aren't just walking around in PPE all the time. Or, to answer your question, the logic stops at the point where you transition from regular clothing to situation-specific protective gear.

As much as this is a joke, you should legitimately get a vest if you intend to in any way oppose your government. ACAB is not something that stops with one nation, ALL cops, regardless of nationality or ethnicity, are bastards and will murder you for in any way opposing the status quo. You want NIJ Level 3 or 4 ceramic (not steel) body armor. Level 3 is lighter, Level 4 is more resistant to bullets and will stop a 7.62 round as well as five 5.56 NATO rounds (such as from an AR-15)

Also for the love of fuck, if you buy a vest *MAKE SURE THE PLATES ARE IN IT*. Don't be the Gravy Seals that wear it for the "aesthetic". It is there to serve a purpose.

Will aluminum foil work? Just going to layer it around my whole body; burrito style.

17 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Only with packing peanuts between the layers for impact absorption

10 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get the idea, but ACAB is literally a US movement tied to it's culture and systems, the country is extremely relevant to discussing police

17 hours ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

while it did start in the US, it extends to other countries as well. Canada in particular has a history of police violence against native Americans. and its important to watch out for what your politicians want to do in terms to police funding, whether its currently a problem or not

Saying "get a bullet proof vest, acab" is not the same thing as saying "be vigilant about police budgeting and corruption" though, that's completely different. Some countries police literally don't even carry guns. As a Canadian, Canada 100% has a police issue, especially against Indigenous Peoples (proper term now), and US/CA share a lot as close countries so ACAB applies better here. That doesn't make it make sense globally, and that you should go buy a bullet proof vest cus ACAB in Finland.

Is it "USCAB" or "ACAB"? I can't remember, would appreciate it if you could clarify that for me! Thanks!

Never had a negative experience with cops here in Europe, so maybe if the get the proper training...

17 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Europe is a big place and also not the only place on earth. Hope this helps!

15 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

I've never had a negative experience with cops in the US, so that must mean US cops are good, that's how this works right? We just go.by what our own personal experience is and to fuck with anyone else's experience?

17 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

That's an asinine response, you're just being snarky and ignoring the point.

17 hours ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

No, you're being pedantic and an ignorant ass for implying US police are the only police on earth with authority and fascism issues. I'm not ignoring your point, I'm dismissing it.

15 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

No, you're making blatantly false assumptions and being rude and presumptuous instead of actually engaging in the discussion to find out what I meant. I didn't say any of that, and I literally made another comment discussing another country, showing that's not implied at all.

I think part of the American conservative mythos is, since all cops (universally) are bad, American cops don’t have to be good.

Which is bullshit. Different countries cops are bad in different ways, and it’s important to take the best parts of each system.

17 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's especially ridiculous because the logic implies police reform is pointless. Like people who push Defund the Police as removing police entirely, when it's actually about police reform and overfunded police being used as catch-all problem solvers instead of appropriate professionals.

16 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is not the "American conservative mythos" at fuckin all lmfao. Do you see thin blue line merchandising and think conservatives are trying to curry favor with cops they know are corrupt and abusive?

15 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Yes.
