That worked in a time where the sentiment of the interaction affected the algorithm. When down voting or the specific flavor of don't like actually mattered. Now most content algorithms care only about any interaction. All this does is feedback that people are interacting show it to more people to get more interaction.

Folks, let me tell you, over on this platform called Threads, someone dropped the term "ai;dr," and it's time for all of us to get on board with that—quick! We’ve got to make these things simple, we need to simplify. People love it, believe me. Let's adapt, let's embrace this—it’s going to be huge!

Wait... Threads still exist? Lol who tf uses that piece of garbage

Lots of people, mainly people who are trying to avoid the right-wing cesspool of bots and racists that make up Twitter.

Threads is owned by Zuck, who is one salute away from being Elon.

It especially perplexes me when someone e.g. asks a question, and some dude just... feeds it to AI and pastes in the output. No human touch whatsoever. Should be grounds for an immediate permanent ban tbh

"So then you make the meme yourself." "No, I have AI that does that." "Then surely you must retype it, add some personal flair?" "Well, no..."

Exactly. Optimizing themselves out of the conversation. Which would be nice, actually, if not that _something_ still gets sent.

Recently read a Sci fi book that used "tealdar" as slang for "summary". I GOT THAT REFERENCE.

I remember complaining about reposts way back when. Now I'd welcome them back to get a break from the incessant narrative wagon

1 month ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

I'm fairly new to imgur & most of it's new to me, so the only reposts I don't like are the ones that are reposted 2 or 3 times on the same day by different people, or within a couple of days of another posting. I understand it -- not everybody sees every post -- but I don't like it. And yes, it is a great burden having to click on that "next" button.

Clicking next to escape something uninteresting here is about as fruitful as flipping a page in the news hoping to stumble across word of something good happening yesterday, and for the same exact reason. On that note, welcome to the Titanic! She's unsinkable, so the passengers keep saying.
