3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Bruise the fuck out of them.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What is the fermenting agent? What causes the fermentation?

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Likely natural yeasts on the apple's skin, unless they pitched in something later

Not pictured: an absolute armada of yellow jackets.

3 days ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Lots of orchards take care of and encourage spider colonies for this reason. Wasps can be pollinators, they tend to get aggressive if not treated properly though. If you like spiders and enjoy spending time outdoors join a cranberry farm. They have thousands of wolf spiders keeping the berries healthy. Then they fluid the fields to harvest the berries and the spiders climb on anything above the water. Like the workers.

By yellow jackets you mean «flying darts of death and murder» yellow jackets?

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are there other kinds?

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get that a lot of people hate them, and of course getting stung is no fun, but I've had entire handfuls of them on me with no problem. No sudden moves, don't hurt them. No problem.

Then torch the nest after dark so you can be sure you got them all.

Hey, lady, they got machines for this now that shake down, catch and rinse the apples. Then you can skip straight to cider.

Looks like the source is https://www.instagram.com/nourish.hq and they’re located in Yorkshire, England. This was done as an ad for a fragrance line she partnered with.

These weird "appeal to nature" influencers are so full of shit. Nobody washes their apples in dirty ditch water. In fact this is disgusting.

an apple a day keeps the doctor away
but if making the cider, your back will need a provider.

Not really, other than some cleaning of the equipment and the apples initially. Unless I'm missing something. I've only done beer, not apple cider.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It just looked super clear and was in smaller bottles at the end. I reckon there must be some filtering processes in there...

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it’s clear and yella, you’ve got juice there fella. If it’s tangy and brown you’re in cider town!

Tho in England cider specialty refers to alcoholic. Everything else is juice.

3 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

In the english-speaking world it's just the US and Canada that calls apple juice "cider".

I do this every year. It takes about 6 hours of work, that's like 8 episodes of your favorite show.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every civilization in the world had and has time for that.

3 days ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

If wealth distribution was more equal, we would all have time for that. It's not a lack of time or resources. Scarcity doesn't truly exist for most things. Scarcity exists for the general population because a very tiny percentage of the population is in control of most of the resources from a financial perspective.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

She does.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's worth it. Not many things are really worth the time and effort. But an amazing homemade hard cider is otherworldly.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just buy it off a farmer. It's good stuff.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That implies the farmer has time for that.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Indeed. I do speak from a little experience when traveling in the West country in the UK. You will see some signs offering home made cider for sale in the right season. I can't say if the gentleman selling it was actually a farmer. I just kinda assumed it.
