So we built a Wood fired Pizza van from scratch...totally self- sufficient with all you need to make Pizzas for an army inside!.

We made it in the Italian Alps...

with the idea of bringing it to London, U.K. for business.

It started with this lump of junk, an Old Piaggio Ape owned by some Old Crusty Italian Dude.

(...mmm crust...)

it was a Fridge van, the exact opposite of what we needed, It needs to get hot in there!

Time to get to work!

Took the Fridge bit off...

Time to make this thing brand new, baby!

Ripped this thing out, probably don't need it anyway...

Ripping all the bits off...

Giving it a bit of that primer

Primer all around

Detail on the Primer

In the Meantime in Naples....construction on our oven has started!

Back in to the van and we're spraying it green again for some reason...

could've done it any other colour but nooooooooo....

fucking green.

put the bits on again.

...meanwhile in Naples....

found this shitty thing dumped somewhere

after a spot of cleaning, could be of use...

time to get serious, Aluminium sheet for the "floor" (Aluminum for you Americans)

Making it sturdy AF

Testing for Dough ball safety

Planning planning planning

Def gonna use this somewhere....

Testing testing testing...

more planning

...In Naples our oven in nearly Done!

We have Gazebo

You need these to make pizza, right?

first rudimental sketch for business name/logo

a more sophisticated computery approach

finishing touches being applied....

Finally arrived!

time to make the frame and exterior

that's a good exterior

bit of roof action going on!

dem flaps

mounted and sealed!

pretty, eh?

the tricky bit.....

nicely done!

Interior time!

gotta have drawers..

all the secret compartment creation...

overhead space!

pizza making area creation!

wood nice and sealed!

pizza prep station!

remember that shitty sink thing?

Ready for business!

weighs a tonne

arrived in London, U.K!

We have light!

hand painting the sign, hard work but worth it!

back view!

testing out the Gazebo

First ride inside! Happy Days!

First event!

Margherita

I love that the "a more sophisticated computery approach" was someone taking a picture of a computer screen lol. I want a truck too!

We have a portable electric fridge to keep things cool during transit and while setup, they are put into the Bain Marie pots for pizza prep.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I wondered this too, otherwise they would have to re-supply every couple hours to make sure they keep things fresh/cold.

Food fired?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, we only cook pizzas by burning other pizzas, for that extra pizza flavour!

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Like soaking logs in wood? Food-fired pizza?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Thanks! we hope to do festivals next year! It's a bit late now!

9 years ago | Likes 153 Dislikes 1

Op I'm heading to v fest in Chelmsford this weekend! You should definitely come!! It's an hour outside London! Make a fortune!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spaces for food, etc, are planned months, possibly a year, in advance, there is no way they'd be able to get in now!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey @OP, I live in London and would love to try a pizza. Is there anywhere I can find you in the next few weeks?

9 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Come to Insider in aviemore! It starts tomorrow, you can make it!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Rock en Seine in Paris next weekend!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Think Pizza Pilgrims started with their Ape at festivals and a food mkt so you know it's a good route( if you get a pitch!)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a fellow van caterer get signed up early as pitches go fast. Also try bonfire events and Christmas markets to tide you over. Good luck!

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yes! Bonfire night! Yes! Oh god I'd give my right arm not to eat a shitty overpriced, underseasoned roast pork sarnie on bonfire night

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also, you guys would go down a storm at Borough market

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ooh Brixton too

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

very cool. The three wheel thing kind of freaks me out a bit. No fast turns with the oven going :D

9 years ago | Likes 545 Dislikes 2

I am thinking they are overly over permitted weight

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or anywhere near Mr. Bean.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They're used to tippy three wheeled vehicles in the UK, look up.the Reliant Robin.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

You have to remember this is practically a vespa. It

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

's the same engine.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Three wheels is all you need:

9 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 2

Ah the Robin Reliant where my friend's mother had one of those. They were just not good on sharp corners as seen.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Reliant is the marque. Robin is the model. Reliant Robin.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Oh no. No, I've crashed it almost immediately."

9 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

Yeah man, this this is SLOOOOOOOOOW

9 years ago | Likes 305 Dislikes 1

Excellent work man, looks great. I'm so hungry now

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was thinking that. What is it like a 3cyl 1litre or something?

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

Ah, these americans, always thinking big.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Small 1-cylinder two-stroke I think.

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

But you'd have to mix ur own fuel... What a pain

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oil injection most likely.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I know a 1-cylinder someone can two-stroke ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Name checks out.
