I got the black lung Daddy!

This really takes the "fun" out of "funicular"

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why?

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I stopped working this type of stuff after my thirties. Yay custodial work

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Give this shit to the AI. These are the jobs that should be reduced through innovation. Not the art industry.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The owner takes all the risk.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get claustrophobic when my duvet is covering half my face.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope

That reminds me; I should play Minecraft again.

Reminds me to get a colonoscopy.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

See, this, right here, this is what the AI and robots should be doing. Not "art", not "writing", certainly not policing, this kind of shit. Use them for the jobs that people shouldn't have to do anymore.

Is this legacy code exploration?

but remember kids: capitalism is the only way, else it would be hell on earth

8 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

It goes beyond me how everyone seems to ignore like... *gestures everywhere* that... and still thinks capitalism is the best system.

Glad they have those safety sticks holding up the mountain.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

those are just for loose rock around faults or from blasting the tunnel in the first place
dangerous but manageable
if it had to hold up the mountain they would be so thick they'd have to blend together into walls.
they also have to scale all that periodically, which means beating the hell out of surfaces with a steel rod to see if anything new comes loose
the hand mucking and small volume makes this look like a shit job with shit pay though

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Look at all the jobs created once they got rid of all those pesky saftey regulations and unions!

8 months ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 2

They have safety sandals! What more do you want? Do you work for OSHA or something?

8 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Not anymore!

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Rednecks, if y'ain't pro-union, yer grandpappy'll come back and haint ya from the grave the Pinkertons slung him in.

Do we have our 15 tons yet?

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There's an industrial museum near where I live that used to be a smelting yard and coal mine. As part of the tour you can go into the mines. They've extend the ceiling for visitors but it's still incredible claustrophobic. I can imagine how they cope.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Which is worse? Living in a Republican state or working in this mine?

Only the winch operator has a face mask? Seems like he needs it least?

8 months ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 1

He needs it least but is also the least bothered by it. Air in mines can get so oppressive with dust and humidity that face coverings get super uncomfy.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only fella living long enough to worry about silicosis.

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He has COVID. He's super concerned for the workers.

8 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

He's the one sitting next to the engine spitting fumes all day, you think they can afford proper ventalation?!

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I rather suspect this is from a place where it's cheaper for the boss to replace a dead worker than it is to buy protective gear for them.* I'm sure the winch operator is only wearing it because he brought in himself.

*coming soon to a fascist oligarchical capitalist state near you!

He is the only one getting off the job alive.

They probably dug up something essential for the device you're using to watching this on.

8 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

its a coal mine

8 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

So they dug up electricity, which is something essential for the device you're using to watch this on.

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

We mostly run on hydro power here... so no.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

pretty luxurious. they have much more space then this:

8 months ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 1

Looks a bit like this, not sure tho

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey wait this is the same mine

8 months ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

coal mine?

8 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

The kids yearn for it

8 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

So clean. So breathable. /s

8 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I think i got the black lung pop

8 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

My grandfather died of black lung from working the coal trains. Yep I'm old.

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

To be fair, that could have happened last week.

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Better pay your winch operator well.

8 months ago | Likes 203 Dislikes 0

Are these the amazing mining jobs the administration wants to bring back?

8 months ago | Likes 432 Dislikes 7

Oh no, these are the jobs kids will be going

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the good ol' times

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

you will work there, your kids will work there, it's going to be great!

8 months ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Why utilize the sun and wind when we can send men and women to their potential deaths every single day?

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

These are not the mines you yearn for

8 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Kids wouldn't have to duck so much.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All those people on Medicaire need to work somewhere.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. See why they want to employ children again??

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget the company store and scrip. But this time you'll be paid in crypto currency.

8 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Crypto currency that can ONLY be spent at the company store. Good luck leaving, we're closing your accounts as you speak. On fact, our records show you owe US.

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yep, and where you pay a 10-20% fee on every transaction.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have an amazing mining job. If my boss dared to ask any of us to do this we would all tell him to get fucked.
There are many different types of mining.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'm curious, the thought of working underground disturbs me for several reasons. What is it that makes your experience amazing? which is not a word I thought someone would use for a mining job.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Underground mining is less common than open pit mining. Technically I'm in a refinery but the minute is connected and nobody ever goes underground.
I get paid good money for interesting work that isn't that hard most of the time.
I worked a lot harder when I was a breakfast cook for a lot less money

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The mine* is connected

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, but with fewer safety measures than this video shows.

8 months ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 2

And fewer transportation options

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And a *way* younger workforce.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well..kids heal faster anyway, so why bother preventing any injuries?

8 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

And you can use smaller holes, which are studier, so fewer cave-ins.

8 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Wins for all!

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The kids yearn for the mines!

8 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It's pretty much the only explanation for why Minecraft is still so popular.
