Somehow, I had never unmuted when you were speaking until today. Your accent was a pleasant surprise!

Lazy!? Madam you are in a gym often, more in a week than I have been in my life (at least since high school gym class)

Solid bench!

This is me 3 yrs ago at 55, no bench but I love to load up my pushups.

I also enjoy any chance to lay down.

"Bore"

I miss the days when having tats like that was … out there. Those will look great when she’s 50-60 too!

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 13

Gotta update my definition of the word "lazy"... .-.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was looking for the "staring respectfully" gif but this will do

3 days ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

Seems like the complete opposite, and I can’t imagine actually doing that IRL, but mentally? I like capturing a glance that will last me a lifetime.

Here it is for your future use:

No spotter? Kinda dangerous. Be safe when lifting everyone. Safety first. It is very easy to hurt yourself.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Can she stand up straight while talking into the camera, or is it that important to be bending over? Have some integrity, lady.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I had the camera set up to film my bench so was lower - but also wanted to do an intro and couldn’t be arsed to move the camera again - it’s not that deep.

Did not know she was Aussie

British...

Posture!

This is like porn with a story. Much more honest to just show bewbs. You know we will love it :)

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

And yet I am a national level powerlifter - I am multifaceted. Yes I do OF but I am also very passionate about my gym progress one doesn’t outshine the other.

2 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes you are. And that is awesome (and sexy tbh).
I was only referring to the video. It was kinda like many other videos on imgur where the women really lowkey highlights her breasts while doing some unrelated activity. It's like "please decide", stop the theatrics and just show boobs since that is obviously the intention of the videos
My comment may also be the result of a little anger caused by pain...and the absence of boobs. Sorry.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Btw, if I write comments that makes you angry, will you come here and lift me? That would really put me in my place... ;)

I always get nervous when someone is doing a bench press with free weights with no visible spotters, even if the weight is well within their abilities.

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Safeties are more important than a spotter.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With that arch, can probably just lay flat and be below the safeties.

Also when benching alone, don’t go too hard. Can’t tell from the this vid, but you can also just not use clips and dump the weights if there’s an emergency

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I get that, but I’m still not reassured. Shit happens, y’know?

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What shit specifically will happen that a spotter is going to save you from that the safety pins don't already take care of?

Sure, she doesn't have someone lifting half the weight yelling "it's all you man, it's all you!", but that's not strictly speaking necessary for the lift.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have seen things happen where the lifter was unable to actually help themselves- a loss of consciousness; an injury; pushed for one rep too many.

The last one was sheer stupidity by an inexperienced lifter. But the others were completely unrelated to the actual weight being lifted.

But it’s been ages since I’ve lifted, so maybe they’re making them a bit differently now than when I was last in the gym. Are they adjustable, now?

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, they're adjustable

If you’re competing, then you use techniques that give the most advantage within the rules and train using those techniques. Makes sense. It’s like in F1 how the engineers push the envelope of tech to the limits of the current rules.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love "akshuling" random female athletes.

3 days ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Depends on the rules of the competition, but even disregarding that, this might not be a competition style bench for her.

3 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If it counts, send it.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is comp style for me yes!! I am well within the new IPF bench rules :)

3 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, the International Planet Fitness bench rules. (/s of course, PF is my go-to)

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huh, when I was lifting (stone age) you were supposed to keep your back flat, has that changed?

3 days ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 3

You want an arch so you dont blow out your rotator cuffs. A larger arch also lessons the press length

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Also, Never get under the bar without a spotter.

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Depends on goals, I think. My understanding is that this style is specific to competition rules and if competing, one of course trains specifically to meet the requirements and lift the most weight within those rules.

3 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

It's also a lot safer but. That makes gym bros angy so

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

When I was in hs at least this disqualified you from the lift. Your turning into a decline/flat hybrid. I'm old, whatever, but I don't like calling these flat bench reps

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah same but back then an xray would take hours to get back and MRI, CT scan what future shit is that?

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is powerlifting approved for all major federations, so… times have indeed changed.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes! So it reduces the load on your shoulders to prevent injury when pushing heavy loads :)

3 days ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

It literally puts all the load on your shoulders. Your butt is still supposed to be planted on the bench and your back arched with shoulder blades flat against the bench.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Arching puts your shoulder in a more anatomically stable position. In terms of your shoulder, your pushing more downwards, like doing dips, instead of directly forwards.

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Huh, very interesting. I've seen that here and there and been like "G they're going to hurt themselves!" and was worried for them. But then I saw you do it, and obviously you know what you're doing (not that they didn't but I didn't know the other random people, but you I've seen in all your badass glory), so I was confused. But glad someone asked the question I had too!

3 days ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Well that might explain why my shoulders are shit and I injure then often. Thanks for the tips.

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You also want to do as much overhead pressing as bench, and also again want to do a balanced amount of pulling exercises. Without either of those, bench is still pretty hard on shoulders.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I yanked something doing overheads so I stopped doing them a while ago. I'm in my 40s. :(

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is good to know and I’ll definitely be adjusting mine accordingly. Just got back into lifting weights again

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don’t have to arch. It has its disadvantages. Depends what your fitness goals are.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only disadvantages of arching are doing it incorrectly by breaking three points of contact with the bench - butt, shoulder blades, and head. Excessive arching that breaks that can at that point reduce the intended strength and hypertrophy benefits of arching, and increase risk of spinal injury.

You know, just like improper form on any lift can impede progress and increase risk of injury.

What if I *want* to work my shoulder muscles/middle chest more? What if I want to work my muscles through a larger range of motion? What if I’m not training for a lifting competition and I could just do a decline bench?
