#7 I didn't realize how much trees would change things for me. I've lived on my own for about 30 years now, but only 3 years ago did I move somewhere that gives me a view of trees. Seeing them wave in the wind like, instantly lowers my blood pressure, and I can feel the tension in my back and shoulders slip away. I can see trees from my desk, and it's magical.

#23 is how my long-necked doberman mix used to hug me (and only me, to the absolute frustration of my mom) I miss your hugs, Momo!

#9 - Garlic Bread is safe, legal, and comes with all kinds of historical, cultural, and even mythological gravitas. Bread is inarguable, so long as you don't have Celiac disease. A lack of it prompted the French to overthrow their monarchy.

Religiously, it is the principle sacrament of Christianity - Christ is the Bread of Life. Don't like Christ? Garlic was said to be one of two plants that sprouted from Satan's first steps after being banished from heaven.

Garlic Bread - more than a meme.

And you can even make it cruelty free by using non-dairy butter!

Garlic is also antibacterial, so it is genuinely medicinal. For someone sick, garlic bread is an antibacterial supply of simple carbohydrates, which is exactly what a sick person often needs. Garlic bread is Healing.

God is yeast. Very first life on earth, giving rise to all other life. Turning water to wine, which is their blood and bread the body. And it took Christ three days to rise, just like a good sourdough.
The devil is spice. The most beautiful of God's creations, cast down beneath the earth, reviled by the ignorant.
The true path lies in accepting the light and the dark sides, to combine them into God's true creation: garlic bread

#10 Not sure if sarcasm or...

I mean, I’m not sure if I’d say that I’m working hard for my dreams but yeah, the “no connections” sounds like a slam but I don’t think she meant it that way

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No, I took it as even though the recipient didn't have an automatic "in" from a family/friend type connection; an automatic leg up; being born with a silver spoon in their mouth...as in they're making it by their own hard work, not off someone else's back. Absolutely not a slam. (IMO)

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be wholesome and encouraging. That's why I included it with this dump.

Yea probably but it comes off sarcastic to me because of the "surely, I say to you" part.

#15 Courage the Cowardly Dog sure hits hard sometimes. It was genuinely a good show. It has messages that you might not understand much yet as a kid but it might start to resonate more as you mature. Even just the very surface level theme of Courage willing to fight to protect his family even if he's always scared is already a hard hitter.

I keep an old M:tG card that I swiped from my friends that play (they consented), that is Goblin Hero. It's a 2/2 goblin with no abilities, but the flavor text says, "When you're a goblin, you don't have to step forward to be a hero - everyone else just has to step back." I keep it as a reminder that often, courage isn't running forward, it is just refusing to take even one step backwards.

Except that the show's name is utter horseshit. Courage is not cowardly. He *experiences* fear, but he does not *give into* fear. The latter is cowardice. But overcoming it, to dare to do his duty has he understands it? That is *bravery*. The corrected name of the show would be "Courage the Incredible Goddamn Hero for All of Fucking Time".

That's the point, though. The name is intended to be an oxymoron.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's an oxymoron, yes, but half of it is inaccurate. If there was a show called "Jumbo the Shrimp", about a very small guy named "Jumbo", that would be appropriate. He is Jumbo and he is a shrimp. But while the dog's name is Courage, he is not cowardly. That half of the title is not accurate to the show. If the show was called "Beavis and Butthead", but Beavis' partner was Vice President Al Gore, the title would be inaccurate even if it alliterates.

I can't express how often this earworm gets stuck in my head. Usually when I'm supposed to be paying attention to something incredibly important.
