I have a printer. It works. But it does not have ink because ink's expensive, yo. I CAN use it as a scanner, but I have nothing to scan.

I have a printer. It works. Fuck no I won't use it... ink is expensive.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I haven't owned a printer in 20 years.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was just having a rant about this then other day lol

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Secretly?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Legit had to just print out doctor forms using the work printer 1

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Also, faxing shit is so 1970’s. We can encrypt and send shit through email much more securely. I’m talking to you IRS!!!!!!!!!!!!?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have a printer it’s just been out of ink for a decade now

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The library.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe you millennials just need to pull yourselves up by the bootstraps and buy a printer.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My demon printer is 11 years old now and still works, somehow. Pretty sure I couldn't find even recycled cartridges for it if I tried.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always ask for a pdf so I can sign and email things back

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I needed to print out a 26 page document for work. I went to the library and paid $2.60.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Print to pdf and email it to your phone. Problem "solved", mostly.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why would you need to email it to your phone?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a printer and the brand new cartridges I put in it and have not used once dried up long ago.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This guy is my brother in law and it cracks me up every time I see it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No way, really?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gen-X. Bought my first printer/scanner when this all started.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just quit sending ppl things to print. FFS it’s 2021. I was promised flying cars and you want me to print things? And then what?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sign what you printed and fax it back of course. You do have a fax machine right?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What do you mean "secretly"?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I found a shipping label printer, so I print out important documents on 4x6 stickers

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Awesome. Got a label printer, i could print on half inch tape but even the third party tapes are way more expensive than inkjet... per inch.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've got it plugged in but it hardly ever prints right without doing maintenance junk first since I use it so infrequently.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its a bit sad that now days the ink costs more than the printer.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm GenX and I haven't bought printer ink in over a decade. I'd rather go to a kinkos if I have to.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Xenninial here, it amazes me people don't have computers/scanners/printers.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Millenial here. I need a printer outside of work maybe twice a year and it just takes up room

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And then I just hit a UPS store or something and have them print it for like 5¢

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always use works printer ??

4 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

Same, i just hang back till anyone who cares leaves ? I'm not spending $20 on printing elsewhere when i just had to stay half an hour later

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Than all of my coworkers because they needed someone on bus duty.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pro tip when buying a printer. First find the cheapest ink, then buy a printer that uses it. I got 40 black cartridges for $40 once.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Its been like 20 years since I've had a printer at home. The only thing I couldn't print at work was copies of my resume.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm not buying a printer for one page per 6 months. It'll need new ink cartridges for every print

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Cheap laser in the way to go. Toner doesn't dry and clog.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i got rid of mine because i just wanted to declutter. now i just go to the library when i need something printed.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, everything's been closed here for the last six months

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

true, i hadn't really thought of that, since i haven't needed to print anything since the pandemic started

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a laser B/W that's networked as well as a wireless color inkjet. Am I doing something wrong? Both work and I have spare toner/ink...

4 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

We just have a color laserjet, but I attached an old laptop to it, and use that to print.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a dad with a kid that likes to wait till the last minute to tell us of an impending project it's a necessity...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have one too... i used it 3 times in 6 years.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeesss my brother laser was thrifted and will outlive us all

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wow. Why not just show your bank account Mr. Moneybags. /s

4 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

Get with the times old man

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I have a wireless colour laser I bought in 2013, still going strong. Gets very little use and I have a drawer of toner.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Me too. Laser is the way to go. Doesn't dry up and prints a shit load.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Welcome to the club. I guess we just fell out of time.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

My problem with mine is it seems I need to reinstall the drivers every time I go to use it. Try to connect, can't find it on the network.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you should configure it with a static IP address on your network.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did for a while, but network still forgets after a bit. Probably has something to do with me turning it off for months at a time.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had one years ago, but realized I was only printing out a few pages a year, so what was the point?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Toners don't dry out like ink does.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bought a laser printer explicitly *because* I only print a few pages a year. $200, and it'll last me a lifetime.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My laser printer is 6 years old and I've changed the toner twice...lol

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Up till now it was easier to just print the few pages at work and not spend $200, but I may have to reevaluate in the Work From Home era.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In college I had a roommate get a new printer to print out a term paper after his old one ran out of ink...It cost less than replacement ink

4 years ago | Likes 162 Dislikes 3

I go to Kinko's. It's like 15 cents per page, but the cost of ink and printer far out pace the Kinko's price.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I buy recycled ink for 1/2 the $ of brand name. My printer knows and throws popups about quality, but hey, I'm just printing assignments.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I have also done this 2 or 3 times...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Always one on sale for 20-30 bucks, ink way more. I didn't have one from 16 to 35ish till Wifey did some wfh.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still cheaper

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel like replacement cartridges last a lot longer, maybe I'm just fooling myself?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, cartridges on a new printer are not necessary full... so this may be a bad tactic

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is true, but you get much less ink in the included cartridges than ones you purchase, you're not likely to be saving money doing this

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It's not a bad option if you need to print only a few times, like end of semester.last time I bought XL Inc, it dried out by the next time

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I needed it. Literally had to print some 20 page papers for class, then found it was cheaper to print at school, I feel foolish now

How the hell would you print to one from a modern device? Maybe got something w/ a serial port in a closet at my parents, but no parallel.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

buy the USB adapter for it, they exist.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plenty of pcie parallel port cards still available.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am pretty sure that Mom's desktop, collecting dust in the garage, had serial, parallel, PS2, etc. She refused to use it, told me to use

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the computer desk when I moved in, and then complained that she couldn't use her computer.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I pulled her hard drive and she never asked me to connect it.
