Why don’t we know who created these accounts?
lonelyrangerofthedreams
All together let’s say it correctly:
Insider trading in war times at expenses of human lives!
Do you like it now?
If you still don’t care you should be part of the above indicated expenses.

They lost the bet because there's no ceasefire and Hormuz is still blocked.
johnvilnis
Funny how this headline has been repeated after each big announcement about the war from Trump.

If you're stupid enough to use a site like polymarket you deserve what you get. End of story
rubypilgrim
soooo...can we set up alerts when such bets are made? Asking for a friend.
EroticZombiePants
Honestly, it seems pretty weird to even be betting on when a freaking war ends in the first place even without any sort of inside information.
Sebastopol140
Is it a surprise? No!
AtmaDarkwolf
And yet, we all see the collective act play out : *GASP* -Hands over mouth- "Nobody could have seen THAT happening!?!?!!!!?"

Gambling really is a fool's errand. Imagine going on the most rigged system on Earth and thinking you can come out of it with a profit.
ontarioOT
Trump junior is a board member for polymarket. They're just using it to laundering money or do insider trading at the expense of their moronic followers.
J3lek
I don't see how this business model is sustainable when so many of the bets are guaranteed payouts to the people making global decisions.
JohnThatcher
The 'business' is just a middleman. They make money on transaction fees. The money is coming from other people buying in on losing positions.
supervillin
Casinos don't pay out true odds, so they don't care who wins. If you're betting on a coin flip you might put down 50 cents to get 95 cents back, and they keep 5 cents in fees. In this case the coin is being flipped by people who also bet on the outcome, which is of course some bullshit. But the people who would go after them for it are busy doing the crime in the first place, so we gotta hope there's still enough of a country left to fix this once Trump is gone.
camn333
Were the bets payable, considering the ceasefire lasted about an hour?
ActualTttony
Ceasefire announcement. Like the Biden investigation they just need the announcement
bloxxing
insider trading? neh-vah!
SomeDetroitGuy
Technically not bets. They're "securities".

Is PolyMarket a business or a money laundering scheme? If it's the former, they'll probably take measures against this shit eventually just to stop losing money.
TheSaucyBaconator
Yes.
SavageDrums
It's a business that's owned by the people placing these rigged bets.
supervillin
Definitely both business and money laundering, and they won't stop it until the next administration, at best. Trump's son is "strategic advisor" for the other big site, it's all intentional.
SomeDetroitGuy
It's a business but they're a middleman. They aren't losing any money on this - they just take a commission between people buying and selling positions.
ontarioOT
And by "buying and selling positions" you mean "insider trading," right?
MapleSyrupMafia
No no no, that would be illegal!!!
