I think they were just curious enough to take a look at what they were blocking. Bluesky lets you use blocklists created by other people so you can preemptively block accounts that others have already decided are unwanted. From what I gather, a lot of people moving to Bluesky take advantage of a few popular blocklists before doing much else.
Think about adblockers. You don't actually know what you're blocking until you look at the details, and sometimes those details are meaningful.

I will say it's not really a Twitter clone. It has a lot of similarities true that's because it's a social media site. If you take him to the guts of how the software actually works and how the company is founded you will see that they couldn't be more different.
