If you open #23 in four tabs and play them slightly off from each other, you have the sound of a spider walking in flip-flops

It looks like a screenshot from Frostpunk, very cool!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like many of these a lot. However I don’t think it’s a good time to pull someone calling for his mama as a joke.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s not a joke, it’s heartwarming. An NFL pro that still loves his mama and is not afraid to show it :)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok, still seems like poor timing to me

#47 Warp 4.5 will get you to Neptune and back in six minutes. ??

5 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

This is why 1C is just not enough. It is barely a start if we actually want to get anywhere in the universe.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Hah yup. Also, wonder if that’s worth bringing up next time I get caught speeding? “But officer, 1C is too slow, and I was only going 88mph”

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

.....I have read some dumb responses, but this one? It beats most.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

How about .5 past light speed?

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Probably warp 1.1

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only knew 4.5 as it’s a quote from Star Trek: Enterprise. But after doing some calculations; at warp 1.5 it would take about 2.5 hours.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

This is of course on the original warp scale. On the TNG scale it would be about three mins and two hours respectively.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Looking at the warp scale, they are still travelling incredibly slow to go as far as they have. Space be BIG, yo.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Absolutely. It’s amazing how much faster Starfleet ships are able to go when they’re fitted with a plot device.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Right and isn't the milky way only 100 light years across? And isn't the universe only like 13.5 billion years old, not 46.5ish? v confused.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1st, no. Milky way is about 100 000 LY in diameter. For comparison, the Solar System is a measly 1.5 LY across.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oops, meant 100k lol. My bad

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2nd, the infographic points out that 46.5b years is the time needed to reach the edge of the observable universe, nothing to do with its age

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ohh gotcha. That's the time at what speed?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

99.99% of the speed of light. Which is, relative to the whole universe, very small. Even if we develop a method to travel close to the speed

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Milky way is about 150k ly across. The universe has been expanding for 13.5b years (it's age), 46.5b ly is distance as far as we can see.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

1/ Wait but how can we see further back in time than the age of the universe? Genuinely curious. If light has only had 13.5b yrs to travel

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/ because that's the age of the universe, then how can we see light that is 46b yrs old? Won't that light reach us in 33b years?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

13.5b yrs from the middle or beginning. The universe is still expanding too so distance (light years) and time (years) aren't the same thing.
