This is the front of the house we bought and moved into in September. We went from a 1500 sq ft house built in 2004 to a 2700 sq ft house built in 1920.

Front door

This house has too many light switches. This is actually beside the front door.

Quirky stuff like this is what sold me on the house.

There are 2 of these light fixtures that I am dreading cleaning

Lath and plaster walls in the living room and dining room

The kitchen was renovated in the late 90s. The cabinet space is amazing.

Room for the 6 year old. Wallpaper that has been painted many times.

This room was an addition in the 60s. It is huge. My bedroom furniture barely takes up any space. There is a balcony that wraps around the room and has a fire escape. This room has it's own thermostat which is probably one of my favorite things. The wallpaper will be going. Eventually.

Bathroom that is pretty much a beige nightmare. I painted the cabinets a dark teal and plan to change the wallpaper. Not sure if I will use wallpaper or paint.

Dog in the basement/den

Tile surrounding the fireplace

The knight works super well in here.

Guest bath. Lavender toilet and sink. Unfortunately the toilet had to be replaced. RIP lavender toilet.

Over the toilet in the guest bath

More bathroom pictures

Cross stitch for the bathroom door.

Kinda random, but this is from the backyard looking up at the house.

This is a huge slug

Living room with the knight.

2 dogs in the basement

Dog and kid. The dog has learned that she can hide right behind the wall and catch unsuspecting humans for a lick directly in the mouth. I do not enjoy that game.

Bathroom while painting the cabinets

More of the painting.

Painting done

Put resin on the little sliding doors under the mirror

Also made knob covers out of clay

Grumpy dog

Closet door in the kid's room

Attic door in the kid's closet

Attic stairs

Blurry attic photo

Knob and tube wiring that the electrician will be dealing with.

Cedar closet in the attic

More of the attic. It is massive up there, but there are no lights and I am not a fan of things that live in attics in the movies, so I have not explored.

Painted the kitchen walls.

More of that kitchen wall paint

And more

Getting ready for xmas

More of that xmas stuff

And more

More

Even decorated cerebus

In the basement there is a toilet room. There is a medicine cabinet with a slot for razors. My husband had never heard of such a thing. He is looking forward to finding a bunch of used razors in the wall.

Such a weird idea.

Please, for you and for everybody living there - check for asbestos. That shit kills ya.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Really nice house...congrats

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The outside is absolutely gorgeous! Gives me fairytale cottage vibes.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Those tiles around the fireplace are awesome!

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Awesome friggin' tour!! Thoroughly enjoyed it!!

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Looks freaking awesome. Congrats !

5 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

The house has character.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

There is a character living in the house ;p

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The razor blade wall is pretty common here in Frostbite Falls. Yes, lots of rusty steel in the wall

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

+1 for wiz palace

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I’ve done a bunch of remodeling on bathrooms with the razor dump. Can confirm that you will find shit loads of used razors in the wall.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why did they build it like that? Did they expect the wall to just hold and conceal an infinite number of razor blades?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

When this practice was popular, very few homes had insulated interior walls so plenty of space for gross used razors.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Quick question why does your dog look so fucking creepy and uncanny

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Heard you were talkin' shit...

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Knob and tube huh... Have fun with that. If its anything like my 110 year old house, freaking nightmare. Plumbing is hell too.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: old plaster sometimes contained animal hair. I learned that on forensic files

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Horsehair" plaster - it's an ugly job tearing that shit out.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Enjoy all the ghosts!

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You have the attic from 'Home Alone'.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Your kid is a brave sort.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wow! That's a 2 million dollar home where I live. My crappy tiny 3 bedroom built in the 40's with the same wiring is almost worth 1 mil.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I grew up in a house with a used razor blade slot in the medicine cabinet BUT what I wanna know is did the toilet smell like lavender?

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Nope. When it was removed the smell was very much not lavender.

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Crazy, I literally just bought a house built in 1920 as well. Close on the 18th, it's a sweet craftsman all updated

5 years ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 2

I moved into a craftsman American 4 square (I’m told) a few months ago. Built between 1900-1920. We love it so far.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Also congratulations!!! That's awesome

5 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Thanks! I love the house. I don't mind the work we have to put into it. We have time. Congrats to you as well!!!

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

1920s are my very favorite style of domestic architecture. Functional, sturdy, ruthlessly elegant.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Love my 20’s house - designed for max. daylight & air flow. Take your time with updates & decor. The house will tell you what it needs.

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

That's so true. And if left alone it will quickly start to fall a part.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

It's perfect as it sits. Fully renovated, immaculately done. The only thing I'll change is the horrible BWB light fixtures

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Very cool, congrats. Any chance of changing the "Peace to all" sign to "Abandon hope all ye who enter"?

5 years ago | Likes 254 Dislikes 1

Hmm. I like that. My house is roughly 100yo. It's also basic af. It was built for people building the irrigation to make the land arable.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is a wonderful idea! I may see if I can make that work.

5 years ago | Likes 102 Dislikes 0

I’d totally buy that knocker from you. We had one on our door when I grew up. So much nostalgia. I miss my mom.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you do please contact me because I would buy that Peace sign from you lol

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

You could always put a cutout from an old map on the attic door. “Here be monsters.” (Also, I would not want to be the kid with that closet)

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Keep the happy, colored font, though!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So, what climate area? I had rented a house from 1909 in Minnesota a few years ago and the heating/cooling bills were a nightmare

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Arkansas. So far, it has not been too bad.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, I approve of the basement poster. Shop Smart, shop s-mart!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So hold up. You aren’t a fan of things that live in attics in movies, but letting the kids have the closet... that leads to the attic is ok?

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Literally word for word what I was about to comment. HEELL to the double fuck no thank you.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, it’s pretty easy to replace a kid. Not so easy to find that much storage space, though.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

He doesn't mind at all.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah, they’re not gonna sleep in there, give it to the kids!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’ve seen enough movies to know that attic is haunted. You better brick it up.

5 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

If I was a 6-yo, I would *not* want the door to a creepy old attic in my bedroom.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

If there are ghosts, maybe I could make them my friends. Do ghosts need to follow social distancing and all that?

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Nah, I think the Rona just passes right thru them.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Leave a pen and paper over the coming week in the attic and ask a simple question, you'll know sooner or later

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

In the house I grew up in, my father put a powder room in the basement. It had a lavender toilet & sink, too! He painted the walls the same.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Wouldn’t it be funny if it were the same house? A friend of mine bought a 1920’s house here in our 250k ppl city. He invited his fam over >

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

for dinner to see the house (in the before times), and his grandpa said, “This was my prom date’s house. We ate breakfast the following >

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

morning right here, where we are now.” So crazy!!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That is a small world! Our house was built in 1925. Lavender bathrooms must've been a big thing way back when.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If I had a creepy attic door in my closet as a kid, I would not have been sleeping in my room... ever. Congrats on the house though!

5 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 0

I had a creepy attic door in my closet as a kid. Loved it b.c my mom hid presents in there.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And a place to smoke weed as a teenager.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I would immediately claim the attic as part of my room! That would be amazing!

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I am a middle aged adult and I would too.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My thoughts exactly. Maybe they can make it into a cool playroom for him. Turn it from creepy to awesome. With a firepole right back into /1

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

the bedroom. /2

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Please get this place lead tested. Stay safe for the kid.

5 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

You asbestosly should.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And asbestos

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

And renovate the shit out of it to remove the decades of nicotine that went into every nook and cranny.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So, is it haunted?

5 years ago | Likes 586 Dislikes 2

100% it is, lots of murders happened there, and then the murders got murdered there!!!!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Nope.

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Those stairs to the attic... I would lock that door permanently

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

And paint it all white or happy rainbow with massive 24/7 floodlights

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You’re a smart person

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It’s definitely haunted

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Better cock the gun just in case

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That house is 1000% haunted yo.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"No it's not haunted"- every picture taken in attic comes out blurry....

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Husband comes from the attic and out of breath, takes pistol, loads it. "The attic is haunted!" and goes back up.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nah, she's got dags, ghosts don't fuck with dags.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She wakes. She walks. She sleeps.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Haaa

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Every episode of the haunting starts like this.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yea

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not since they setup Cerberus I bet lol

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Attic is

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Yep

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife and I bought a 1915 Arts and Crafts cottage a few years ago. The first question everyone ask is this.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well..?? Is it??

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

an attic door in the kids closet? definitely haunted.

5 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 0

Right? I loved that part, how much space there was and how cool that attic could be attached to a bedroom. But it’s also SUPER creepy.

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

My room had the attic door. I fell asleep almost every night staring at it. Other nights I got too scared and slept on my brothers floor.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

My coat closet has an attic door, I'm an adult and if I get sleepy on the couch I stare at it too. So unsettling.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mine was built in the 70s and all of us, wife, daughter, myself, occasionally hear our names being called by someone not present. Last 1/

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I used to hear and see shit in my parents house ALL THE TIME. Recently moved out and when I went to visit I heard a whispered “hey.”

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

They missed you

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

2/ night, my wife was awoken by someone tapping forcefully on her shoulder. I have seen things move that shouldn't (and not blown by wind).

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Well....aslong it does not blow up into full-blown poltergeisting, you're good. Just dont ever shout at your nightly visitor

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I both want and don't want more. I've just woken from a nightmare and my kid is doing her usual nighttime house creep abouts

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is what you get for being a wizard, Harry.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Hypnagogic hallucinations. I get them. Like sleep paralysis kinda. I’ve seen, felt, and heard things. Not ghosts, nothing to fear.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Except that the name calling happens while we are all awake, and we never discussed them w/ each other until my daughter told us about hers

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is why I bought a house from the original owner, who is very much still alive.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I live in the Southern US... Pretty much everywhere is ancient Native American burial or ceremonial ground.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Soooo...house tour?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Lol, my house is set up and designed to be lived in... Not toured.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh...so you're closed for the night? By the way, your locks broken...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not that I know of. I figure since we plan to keep this house for life, I can haunt it when I die.

5 years ago | Likes 315 Dislikes 0

Horror movies have taught me otherwise!! But seriously, CONGRATULATIONS ?!!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Knight walks around at night. Sleep tight

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Later on, you'll find out that the house was built on a Native American burial ground. I've seen this movie before.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Good plan

5 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 0

You definitely want vampires with that sign on the door.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If it is, just laugh...like in Totoro. It works in my haunted cabin.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've always told myself that animals are a charm against anything scary, I have a cat who is as big of a scaredy girl as I am who will tell

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me if I need to be scared, hopefully my soon future home won't be haunted or anything to be scared of either according to this kitty of mine

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can’t believe your poor kids have to sleep in a room with a door to the clearly haunted attic.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I’m relatively confident it leads to Narnia

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hopefully...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's haunted. Pretty, but soon the walls will bleed. I know, because my house does, once in a while. I'm cool with it. ^.^

5 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

So Turkatron lives at your house?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What the actual fuck

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I mean they said they need to replace some wallpaper anyway...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Naw, that’s only the House Spirit doesn’t want you there, or you do something to accidentally hurt it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I guess that's why a house is female gendered in French.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine never bled, just shadow figures cruising through the living room day or night whenever it wants, oh and random shit falling.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I live in a similar place. Not much fun.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's terrifying

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It is as a child I still have the habit of sleeping under a blanket due to it, not always but whenever i feel uncomfortable lol.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you hear about the guy in the apartment that had walls that were bleeding... the idiot tasted it too be tough in front of a girl. 1/

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

House that old probably has its own spirit by now. Maybe set a little shrine for it in a tucked away corner? Leave a sugar cube >

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

>or flower or some other tiny trinket once in a while.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Aren’t you supposed to leave milk? Or is that for something else?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It varies. Depends on the individual spirit sometimes. Usually as long as you leave something, the intent of the gift is enough.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And bread and honey or butter I think. But, according to the Dresden files the fae are now quite fond of pizza

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fairy’s from Ireland if I remember correctly ?
