It's either that or, atleast when it seems particularly pathological, they were abused themselves as children and are redirecting their anger stemming from unresolved trauma. It's not like conservative households are known for producing people with emotionally mature coping mechanics, especially in conjunction with religion which teaches isolationism and conditioning (children in particular) not to speak out against authorities (notably the patriarch). On top of that: 'therapy' is a dirty word.

I think all these pedos keep running to religion because they KNOW their urges are bad. Some are looking for redemption and forgiveness and escape. Others use it as a tool to be a monster. Religions are a magnet for this shit and they wonder why lots of us have washed our hands of the cesspools.
