Is this the instrument that drives musicians mad?

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've heard the bowls had lead originally and the musicians would lick their fingers.

I was sure it would break at some point. A very tense watch.

I thought the same thing - "why would they say it can break if it doesn't eventually break!?!!?" Glad it didn't.

Ben had a walking stick with a secret chamber in the head. He would go for walks with people and when they came to a stream he would touch the head of the stick to the water, releasing oil into the stream and thus seeming to calm it. Dude was an actual wizard.

His work on stoves are really under appreciated these days. There is a modern improved version based on his old design. One person converted the modern stove into a fireplace. Turns out that the tiny thing can heat up a huge living room with minimal wood with a mix of good insulation. I was pretty impressed and so were the Department of Energy who rated his home as one of the most efficient in the USA.

Or if you drop it on the sidewalk from a higher floor, which happens all the time according to cartoons.

If there's someone underneath it, they pop out of the wreckage with their teeth replaced with piano keys, playing music!

I remember watching this full video a while back. It was so easy to break sometimes he cuts himself while playing.

Fun fact- Dr. Frans Mesmer used a glass armonica to induce a hypnotic state in his psychology experiments and that is where we get the word mesmerize

Still the coolest instrument I will never have in my collection. That is a lifetime of dedication and upkeep. This dude is a true rarity.

Despite rumors that the music was bad for mental health.
