I've been to yosemite... but never in winter, wow!

All I can ever think of now when anyone mentions El Capitan(not Captain the way OP spelled it) is the video from the TikTok livestream where Balin Miller rappelled off the end of his rope when going back down to get his gear bag after making it to the top.

Yosemite is still high on my list. Who knows, maybe in 10-15 years when the USA is somewhat back to normal...

Damn that is majestic

Looks as cold as a witches tit.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That can't be real. That never happens like that.

I remember when we came into the park and the size of it just made me very uncomfortable. Some primitive part of my brain was shrieking.

Either the video is reversed or this dude driving on the wrong side of the road.

Because it's there....

Row, row, row your boat...

I got to see Yosemite when I was a kid. Absolutely majestc. Heard it is a 12 hour drive in now with too many attendees.

What is this place?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Never mind I read the title. It’s been a long day.

Free solo that shit now, Alex Honnold

Because it is there

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its breathtaking in person

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

BS! I've seen it and its a sun-lit rock shimmering with heat haze. That was in July and I see no reason for it to be different now.

Said the person who came to a 10 hour old post to bitch over a single random comment....

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

That’s offensive to 4th graders

that's what I thought... and I'm not even American.

Autocorrect strikes again, I'm sure.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never seen it like that! Will have to get there.

I’ve been lucky enough to travel to nearly 40 countries in my life so far across all continents (cept Antarctica but I’ll get there) and am also Canadian so don’t dole out compliments to the US too readily, but… Yosemite is up there as one of the most jaw-dropping places I’ve seen. Driving in is just, wow. Must be incredible seeing it like this!

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

you'll have to wait for some snow. it didn't look like that right now.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Too bad the USA are no longer a safe country to travel to.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Looks really cool but I wouldn't want to be there driving on those roads when there's icy conditions

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that's an incredible winter view. I saw it as a 13 y.o. in summer nearly 60 years ago but my memory of it is nothing like that. Covered in snow with clouds of snow powder billowing about is so dramatic.

According to my math you are 55 years too old for trump - congratulations on your loss

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I don't know what's meant by being too old for Trump. Or too young for that matter. And there is no just right age for that PoS. As a NYCer, I was aware of him being a crooked, self-aggrandizing megalomaniac long before he ran for president, even before his "You're fired" TV show. I was lucky that the voting age was lowered to 18 just as I turned 18 and so was able to vote for McGovern. He lost but my choice won in '76.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I dunno I just meant when you turned 18

I’m not from NY but I really thought everybody knew he was a jackass and that he was as dishonest of a businessman as there ever was. I thought everyone knew he was doing the apprentice because all his businesses failed…

Apparently not.

This absolute mad lad climbed up that thing without a rope. (Here seen in more recent shenanigans)

Someone should’ve thumped the glass

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And to put it in context, El Capitan is about 3,000 ft from the valley floor. That's 300ft taller than the Burj Khalifa. An insane climb.

Yea absolutely not on that curve I have never trusted anything in my life the way this man trusts his hands

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I watched the documentary, fuckin amazing. Balls the size of coconuts on the fucker.

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

He’s not wearing a belt….is his fear boner keeping his pants up?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(climbing pants are often stretchy)

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've climbed El Cap (with ropes) 4 times and it's absolutely insane in sheer size. Mad props to him for what he's done (I actually spent 2 weeks in a mountain hut with him and his gf at the time; cool guy).

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Awesome, congrats on the climb! Yeah, Alex seems like a down to earth kinda chill guy, pun not intended.

Free solo is one of the most butt-clenching stressfull documentaries i’ve seen. Epic and amazing watch too

2 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

I recommend watching it on VR, that was fun to work out to. Also, after watching that, scaling a building like this is probably a walk in the park with all those hand-holds everywhere.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Literally my stomach dropped at the thought of him up there without a rope. I can't do heights anymore!

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There's a few docs about that lunatic, great watches, but yikes!

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Even when you KNOW he survives, it's exhausting and stressful to watch.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I go into a flop sweat each time I watch his climb. It's something everyone should watch once.

Also, Marc Andre-LeClerc and Tommy Caldwell. I recommend watching their respective documentaries. Amazing athletes.
