And this need for men is why the wealthy want AI, so their power can be absolute and the reach of their money all encompassing.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Men *can* think. But so often they don't. That's why we're where we are.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And now you know why they are pushing AI so hard

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The lyrics are poetry.

Wells is awesome. I will say though, that with he exception of the mechanic (and they're probably working on it) those 'defects' are fast becoming moot as the war in Ukraine sees the use of more and more autonomous 'tanks' and drones dropping bombs on pre-programmed runs. Not long before those runs and instructions are defined by AI "to get around anticipated defenses faster", and automation in factories is directed by AI "to speed up production."

Pre programmed and autonomous is not the same thing.
And Noone in the military wants fully autonomous weapons because of risks of being hacked or mistakes. Etc

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Well in the actual military. I am afraid those in charge of the military want those so they don't have anyone telling them we can't do that.

Because people think and deserve to be paid for their efforts is why the powerful want fully autonomous machines.

It's by the German Bertolt Brecht, called From a German war primer https://allpoetry.com/from-a-german-war-primer

I was wondering why it sounded familiar and why all the footage is from Germany

1 week ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I think all the footage is from around Warschauer Straße in Berlin.

The post title is confusing... is that a song I don't know the words to? If so, can someone let me know the name and artist please?

Per @couldntcakeless, Jesse Wells. Excellent folk/protest musician. I haven't heard this song, but it's almost certainly one of his compositions.

It's a poem by German playwright and poet Bertolt Brecht, called "From A German War Primer"

1 week ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

The whole matter is a confusing.
Bertolt Brecht wrote "Kriegsfibel" - translated: "War Primer"; It’s a book made from WWII-era press photos (from newspapers and magazines), each paired with short poems (epigrams).
It’s a strong anti-war book. He tries to teach critical thinking and viewing things as what they are, instead of seem -propaganda. The photo will try to tell you one thing, but the text shifts your interpretation and your brain has to resolve the tension. Its got dozens of photos.

So the text here is a translation of several of these epigrams.
Because Brecht’s writing is quite condensed and sharp, so different translations can feel quite different in tone and wording, even if they carry the same core meaning.

Looking at the book, you can gloss over the images and epigrams in seconds, but also sit with them for minutes in thought. Its quite interesting that way.

Jesse Wells, outstanding singer songwriter

Saw him two nights ago live, apparently he can also shred like Hendrix on his guitar. It was incredible.

I was behind him 100% but he lost me with crying for Charlie Kirk

1 week ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 9

He also went on Joe Rogan’s podcast or whatever it’s called. Whether for good or ill I’ll never know but that decision alone tainted Jesse for me personally.

10,000% agreed.

Can you share? I follow him on socials and haven’t seen that. Jesse has always been for free speech and anti violence so I don’t see him advocating for Charlie’s murder.

Source: His song "Charlie". To me it just runs really counter to his line "CEOs come and go, and one just went, the ingredients you got bake the cake you get" from "United Health".

I’m glad you shared this. He’s lamenting his bloodshed. Specifically the glee people got from his murder. He goes in depth in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Cucked for Kirk is pretty sad.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

He wasn't mourning Kirk's death. He was speaking out against ANY violence, and those that celebrated it.

“For all of the bile/The bold talk,” he sings. “The venom/The hate and the lies/No one should be killed/No blood should be spilled/Charlie shouldn’t have died/Well you can’t hate the gun and love the gun that shot yer rival/You can’t be kind and wish pain upon a child.”

Good to know, still disagree with him. He wasn’t innocent. He wasn’t an npc. He was actively harming the world around him for personal gain. Also he wasn’t a child.

Which I feel contradicted his previous lyrics, which makes me wonder why he made an exception in the song about Charlie Kirk...........

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

For sure.

Doesn't strike me, given his overall political leanings in his songs that it's anything other than him maturing between the two events, but *shrug* who knows.

I don't have the energy today to do any concentrated digging into interviews and such, see what shifted.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I get you, but just believing “no blood should be spilled” isn’t maturity. It in fact reeks of oversimplification and feel-good nonsense.
