If you fall for that you definitely have an IQ less than 100. <-- Also not really how it works

I HATE those posts that have letters switched around a bit and say "if you can read this you have a very powerful mind, share if you see it"
Like yeah, we can all read it. But there's always a couple of people who share it because they think that their mind is actually powerful...

They came to my school, had the free test so meh might as well, passed and they asked for $80/year or something like that to be a member.
Aye, I told them to jog on.

Mensa membership is a vanity tax on intelligent people
Told them paying the membership fee didn't seem intelligent to me. Only one guy paid up, many passed because engineering nerds.
stvhunt132
Sorry to hear you didn't want to join due to memberships fees. The fees are one way the organization raises money to hold events and (1/2)
(2/2) keep the program running. Maybe when that fee becomes more affordable to you, you'll consider joining we'd love to have you.
piepgras
So the MENSA ppl aren't smart enough to make money in other ways than membership fees? Curious.

"You've got a 160 IQ." You have got. Fucking hell.
Get, gotten, have/has/had got.
vowofloudness
In British English, "have got" is a very common idiomatic intensive form of "have", placing emphasis on possession.
themuttonisniceandlean
It is accepted in British English. Saying "have got" is technically considered wrong in Am. English as it's redundant, yet commonly heard.
storebrandproductmascot
Where are you from that "you've got" sounds the least bit unusual? That's an extremely common way to say that. Remember "You've Got Mail"?
QuiteADapperAsshole
"You've an IQ of 160" technically is fine.
AreThoseMyPants
I think yours is better. "You've got" sounds to me like "you received", not "you have".
ford53
Sounds like common speech, but now that I think about it that really doesnt make a lot of sense.
thebluestthingsonearth
Common where I'm from. But ain't nobody talk right round here.
mineovermatter
It's fine. The "a" instead of "an" is a far greater problem
"One" begins with a consonant sound ("w"), so "a" is the proper indefinite article. "A one-sixty" is correct.
PizzaStation
Not a problem. "An" is for words that start with a vowel *sound* "160" starts with a "w" sound, which isn't a vowel sound.
A vs. An is all about sounds, nor letters.
*not letters
SmeachThePeach
Why the hell do people say "an historic event/moment/ what have you."?
If you listen, they usually drop the "h" when they say it "an *istoric* event." British thing maybe? In the US it's, "a historic event"
