Stop letting old fucks drive kids around

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Holy shit, so close that you can hear it almost not be just close... Seriously, turn on the volume for this one.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure how much torque that bus has, but at that point i would've tried to find out.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

She was arrested and charged with 29 acts of child endangerment.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bro I’m not patiently waiting for car in front if there are kids in the back. Glad this worked out.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This happened in 1995 in Fox River Grove, IL except that the bus didn’t make it that time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995_Fox_River_Grove_bus%E2%80%93train_collision

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why is she not laying on the horn and pushing the car in front of her?

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Well if the bus driver had had the flashing lights and stop sign out then the train driver would be in a whole lot of trouble right now.

3 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted on by another force—flashing lights haha

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

a: What idiot designed that intersection? A junction immediately after a rail crossing? JFC.

b: At some point you want to ask yourself. Do you want to hit a car, or GET hit by a train?

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As a locomotive engineer... fuck her for putting so many people's lives at risk

3 days ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 0

The local dispatcher here told my friend not to prank call, when he informed her that his locomotive had been struck. - She didn't know what a locomotive was, and wanted to hang up on him. Just thought I'd give you a laugh.

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

dunno whats worse, the tanker or the school bus. i almost got the tanker once. dunno what id do if we wiped a bus.

3 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This sort of shit is why railroad engineers go to therapy. Seriously, they sometimes have to watch helplessly as their train runs down families in minivans, brakes locked up hard but knowing there's no way to stop in time. Having a school bus on the tracks has to be way worse.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

“not gonna stop for no train”

4 days ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

One word: Florida.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a Florida man when I was told the headline I said surely that was in Florida. :/

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haven't seen the movie...but that's the train driver dead, and if it's a passenger train, then all people on board as well.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This was 100% due to the bus driver's terrible judgment and she was arrested for child endangerment and endangering an adult.

"On the video, the railroad crossing warning lights activated, including audible bells. The bus proceeded over the tracks and six seconds later, a female voice is heard saying “not gonna stop for no train.”"

3 days ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

“not gonna stop for no train.” Nearly her last words, what a cunt.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Six inches is actually pretty far, if you think about it.

(Couldn't resist the joke, sorry! I'll see myself out.)

4 days ago | Likes 103 Dislikes 5

You'd need to be in first before you're out.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It's larger than the average collision, I swear!

4 days ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's a giant space

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

6 inches? If they touched, isn’t that 0 inches?

3 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing what they mean is that if the bus was 6 inches further back, the train would have struck enough of the body of the bus to be catastrophic.

3 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

6 inches is a lot !!

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what she said

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This also happened in Fox River Grove, Illinois…except the bus driver didn’t hear the kids screaming that a train was coming and it hit the bus. Children died.

3 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Stupid bus driver

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same thing happened in IL. Driver thought the train would clear [road design failure]. It shucked the passenger body off the chassis - 7 dead school kids! See https://www.947wls.com/2020/10/24/sunday-is-the-25th-anniversary-of-the-seven-angels-tragedy-in-fox-river-grove/

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those kids almost had to be delivered to school in a bucket

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seems like this bus driver needs to be "retired"...immediately.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She was arrested and charged. “not gonna stop for no train.” was on the bus recording.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Were there kids on the bus??

4 days ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

29 kids + a student aid

4 days ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Oh my God

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

29 counts of child endangerment + 1 adult

4 days ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

That driver should’ve rammed that car.

4 days ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 4

Yeah, if you find yourself in that position don't ask questions and just gun it. Right foot down and honking is optional.

3 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They shouldn’t have been on the tracks in that situation. The bus driver was at fault according to the article.

4 days ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

“On the video, the railroad crossing warning lights activated, including audible bells. The bus proceeded over the tracks and six seconds later, a female voice is heard saying “not gonna stop for no train,” the officer noted the voice was the same as the defendant’s.”

4 days ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Sounds very damning.

3 days ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That driver should’ve rammed that car.

4 days ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 6

She shouldn't have crossed the tracks at all. You aren't supposed to cross unless there's room for the whole bus.

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

For the sake of saving a bus load of kids, absolutely.

3 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

RIGHT?!?? Oh my holy fucking hell there goes my blood pressure, dear lawd...

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

They also should've stopped on the other side of the tracks to avoid this situation all together.

4 days ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 0

This and nothing else. Driver should be fired and never allowed to drive a bus again.

3 days ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Never allowed to drive ANYTHING - they’re clearly a danger to themselves and anyone else on the road if their judgement is so piss poor.

3 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

There are plenty of good 60-something drivers - I am one. I also drove a school bus in a previous century. This dipshit made a poor decision regardless of vehicle driven. Revoke the CDL license along with a suspension of state driver privileges with a retest. Plenty of younger drivers ignore RR crossings some with deadly results.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

67. My wife and I won a nice lawsuit after she was hit by a driver about this age while we were out on our bicycles. She barely understood what happened, who she hit, and why she couldn't leave. Why would let a person this age drive a bus full of kids... or run a country?

3 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Its fun, here in Denmark, if you turn 70 and got your licence before 2013 you have to get a doctors chekup, and a LOT of people where so angry about that becayse they lost thwir license.

I have autism.. i have to be checked by the doctor every 2 year fpr the rest of my life... same if you have diabetes, and some of the other diagnosis that makes sense, BEFORE YOU GET YOUR DIVERS LICENSE THAT IS.. If you get a lisence and 5 years later get, some illness that could be dangerous you arent cheked..

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Isn't one of the main point of making busses stop before every railroad crossing to make sure that there's enough room for the entire bus on the other side before decided to cross?

4 days ago | Likes 421 Dislikes 0

They dont hire people with PHD to drive school bus.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Oh wow, you're so stupid that you think you need a PhD to understand a railroad crossing. That's rough, buddy.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

not from my state based on the license plate, but the sticker on the bottom of the bumper is the one I see on the busses where I'm at (seriously though, busses are heavy enough, they should have pushed the car out of the way and not risked it... sucks for the car as it was the bus drivers fault (who was arrested because of this), but, 29 kids lives were in danger)

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That and to see and hear if a fucking train is coming.

4 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't think florida is "packed" with smart people.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to work for an oilfield company. We had a temp driver do something similar. The back of his trailer got clipped by a train. He didn’t say a word. Hours after it happened two FBI Agents showed up with shockingly good pictures of the incident. From a non gated crossing in the middle of farm country.

3 days ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Well that’s creepy.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember them always opening the door and listening on top of stopping as a rule

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I live next to such a road and the truckers do this. To: ofc: to some disgust of drivers behind them

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There was a horrible accident decades ago, that was supposed to be something we learned a lesson from

3 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

has the florida GOP fired the union bus drivers and hires minimum wage no benefits low educated like my state has? since my state has fired the union drivers there's been a sign "Bus Drivers Wanted" out for 15 years. it's like lowes and HD quality but less.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Not in Florida. You're lucky the bus driver stopped drinking toilet bowl cleaner long enough to roll forward a few feet.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but this is Florida so the standards have been adjusted accordingly.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You go when it is clear. Not when you think it will be clear.
Same rule as turning left across traffic. Unless you can verify that no cars are coming at 55 mph on the other side of the work van across from you, turning across, then you assume that there is a vehicle there.

3 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the bus driver might have a stern talking to.

4 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yeah, she might get it in the aft.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Charged with 29 counts of child endangerment + 1 adult

4 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

And a-firin',

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Article says there was onboard video on the bus, driver crossed the tracks WHILE the signals were going

4 days ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 0

What the FUCK

4 days ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

.... My wife worked at a bus company, that was listed as a IMMEDIATE firing in the handbook.

4 days ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 1

She was arrested.

3 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I assume you mean the driver in the video.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope, the wide. Reading is illegal in their county.

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That should honestly be a crime if any students were on board

3 days ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

There were, and it is. She was arrested.

3 days ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

will face harsher punisment from the people than the prez. Just look at the comments here. There is a lynchmob forming.

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She’s lucky she got arrested for that, and not arrests for not getting the bus out of the train tracks in time

3 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Good. I wish the US would arrest all known criminals.

3 days ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

How dare you talk about our President that way!

3 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Well, she is 67-years-old. We probably shouldn't be letting elderly people drive regular busses, let alone school busses.

4 days ago | Likes 130 Dislikes 10

Working two 3 hr shifts per day at minimum wage, not gonna get any spry whippersnappers applying

3 days ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I'm of the mindset that there needs to be a mandatory cut-off age of 70 for vehicle licenses.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

… or run for public office.

4 days ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 1

I'd imagine that the pool of people available for part time twice a day work goes up at that age compared to "need multiple slave wage jobs to get by" younger people.

3 days ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

If only she could retire

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

67 isn’t really elderly my mom is that age and she’s a very competent driver.

4 days ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 11

My parents are both 70, and one is drastically more healthy physically and mentally than the other.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My mom is 73. She's a competent driver. I trust her to drive herself, my kids even. But I don't expect anyone to trust her to drive their kids, let alone a bus full of kids. If you're at retirement age, you shouldn't be driving massive vehicles for a living. This is before we even get into the fact that driving for a job is different than driving for yourself. When you drive for yourself, you can choose to stay home when you're tired or unwell. When its your livelihood, its different.

3 days ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Do you believe she would be a competent driver for busloads of screaming children five days a week?

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're elderly once you hit 65.

My 13 year old brother is a very competent driver, he's not that young!

My point is, when you get older, your judgement isn't as reliable with certain things, not to mention reaction time.

It's similar to people being too young to drive, just for different reasons is all, and we need to test better for declining ability to safely operate a motor vehicle with the elderly the same way we require young people to test in the first place.

4 days ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

67 isn't that old

4 days ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 15

You're one of those people trying to get the age of retirement raised to 70, arent you

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

If I'm still working at that age, I'd like someone to nuke the planet from orbit.

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I won't be able to get the state pension before I'm 70, in 2049 (in Denmark). I think it's a bit optimistic to think that all people can work at that age. And that there will be enough jobs by that time.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're considered elderly once you hit 65 years old.

4 days ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 6

By whom? Many of my friends are that age and still going gangbusters in life. People age at different rates.

4 days ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 26

I mean fair but I turn 65 this summer and the barrage of Medicare mail
I’m getting is no joke.

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Still going gangbusters" My friend, you are so old that you have outlived your version of the English language.

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's past retirement age.

3 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Sorry pal you just used the word gangbusters. You AND ya friends old
