This was about the Texas House Bill 3979, which passed in 2021. It is a law restricting how race, sex, and current events are taught in Texas public schools. It limits discussions on systemic racism, prohibiting instruction that suggests individuals bear responsibility for past actions of their race or should feel discomfort or guilt.
Republicans have been relentless on their attempts to whitewash history.

Ah, the wording. No person on this planet bears RESPONSIBILITY for the past actions of anyone they were not involved in. No one should feel GUILT for such, either.
Our responsibility is in making sure the FACTS of these actions are known, so the good ones can be furthered, and the bad ones never repeated.
The only people who should feel guilt over, say, ethnic genocide, are the ones trying to repeat it and--- oh, wait, yeah.

Fuck these treasonous shitstains. We need to start fucking executing corrupt politicians. Betcha things clean up quick

These folks have learned they can be blatant about it all, and nobody will do anything. The responses of "yes" are basically silently followed up with "and what are you going to do about it? Nothing." B/c fuck all is done these days. The racists in power have realized they don't have to hide being racist. They can wear it like a badge of honor now.

Well, in light of recent revelations, maybe removing specifically Cesar Chavez isn't so bad. But that doesn't mean that the history of the farmworkers who had to struggle mightily for any kind of recognition and decent treatment should be removed. (Which of course was exactly what the people who wrote this bill wanted).

It's so insidious how they did this. The House approved the bill, but then the Senate steps in and just adds some amendments that they thought could just slip through the process. But James Talarico spotted it... called it out. It still passed.
They are a devious party... hell bent on achieving their aims despite THEIR position being a minority. They want the whole country whitewashed and "Christian Nationalist."

Do far from what ive seen from talarico he had a strong chance at a win in Texas, but if he does well I could see him making a run for president. Imo id rather see AOC take that position (as of right now), but i dont think she would have enough pull bc yano.... woman, and not white enough, which is so fucking unfortunate

I would hate to lose her voice in congress but a ticket with Buttigieg and her would make a hell of a team ... but only if the Democrats gain control of both houses. She is young enough that she could run in six or ten years for president.

Man almost taking the words right out of my mouth no lie
dirque
I really want Buttigieg to run, but the homophobic in this country makes that a really tough fight to get enough votes.
chatawillybilly
Name of this House of Representative Congressman?

I commented here or reddit once about fuck Texas but a lot nicer verbiage. Someone asked me to elaborate. I said basically my experiences with Texas have been no redeeming qualities, the place sucks, their politics suck, and I have had way better steaks and BBQ and shit in the fucking Midwest middle of no where. They cant even do food decent

I feel sorry for those poor souls. Yano unless they are the ultra wealthy trying to skirt by paying as little in taxes as they can while living in a welfare state
