I went on a rave on a train once, it was fucking horrible. In the "dance carriages" all the sweat in air condensed on the roof and came down as raver rain and the non dance carriages were 6 person compartments with no sound.

Cool things about trains:
1. You are in the right, everyone else is stupid if they get in your way
2. You get to drive a train. End of story!

Riding a train is always interesting. You get an interesting view of cities and towns you wouldn't get otherwise.

#5 How is this technically not a train? Isn't it a light rail/commuter train/subway train thingie?

Slow TV was a thing 10 years ago. Full broadcast of a train ride or a ship trip in the Norwegian fjords

Trains are fantastic machines... and safer than air travel... with the tradeoff of a longer trip.

Japan has some luxury train systems for tourist destinations that are unbelievably opulent.

i can recommend https://m.youtube.com/@SoloTravelJapan/
While the focus isn't exactly trains, he does use them a lot. event-trains, sleepers, experience-trains. There is text and the translation is very good as well. No voice-narrating, only ambient sound. I sometimes catch myself just putting it on for the sounds.

Thank you! That's a really good source. They even have luxury ferries and interesting in-country flights, like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL7JTX9DGxg

If you're into that, he also has a food channel where he goes more into depth in the food he eats during his travels. Same vibe.
