Reminds me of the difference between cat intelligence and dog intelligence. The dog is easier to measure because it wants to please you, and so will do the drills and do the work to figure out what you want and how to achieve it. The cat might be just as smart, but we will never know, because it isn't interested in proving it to you. Is Calvin dumb for not putting in effort, or smart for not bothering?
