"Wait, is this the timeline with the furry hackers and trump gets an ear job? Oh dear god.... it's too late then... the alien crabs will be here at midnight!"
I'm tempted to assume the replacement would be less in Putin's leach. But let's be honest, there are probably dozens more of politicians owned by Putin ready to step in.
I agree killing Trump wouldn't stop Trumpism--would that it WERE that easy. This was something like a worst-case scenario, though. We're all going to suffer for it.
I want to. I really want to consider the repercussions but every time I try I just think about it I think about how it would be a message that his ideas/ the R's ideas are explicitly unwelcome. They would have to find another stooge to put in the chair. They would potentially step back.
I understand he would be a martyr but he wouldn't be the primary reason for my anxiety any more. That would be a win. A small one but a win.
Which variant of time travel we believing here? In one version a traveler cannot change the past that much because it would create a paradox. In an other the success just made a branching timeline and we're still on the one where it missed.
Those aren't the only two options. There's also the "causality can flow backwards and the timeline need not be monodirectional" idea. So the grandfather paradox is resolved because you simply created a loop in the timeline and it continues from the change you made. You still exist but the people in the future you left cease to exist. This one actually means that simply the act of traveling to the past deletes the future beyond the point you traveled from.
Impossible. Even granting the existence of time travel, the inherent paradox would make it impossible. The only types of temporal manipulation that could possibly be performed without paradox are being able to WITNESS--but not *affect*--the past, and being able to AFFECT--but not *witness*--the future.

The writers for this season of the Earth 2024 sitcom are just throwing all ideas at the wall at this point.

It's the age old question, would you go back in time and kill Hitler to prevent WW11?
