He's the kid in the school project that wings it. And through out his life he's had sychophants, sucks ups abd paid-for supporters that pat him on the back and tell him he was amazing after. So he's learned to just bullshit his way through. And he thinks he's fucking amazing at it. So it pisses him off when folks aren't amazed or question him about it. Suddenly years of fake reinforcement are called into question over his house of cards he's so proud of
Ugh, I'm pretty sure I'm going to need glasses sooner rather than later... which kinda sucks because I'm also hard of hearing, so I might need a hearing aid... and I'm trans, so there's the costs associated with transitioning I need to worry about :/
Oh, he needs them, but he doesn't like how they make him look so refuses to wear them. That's why he's so bad at reading, the motherfucker is blind as fuck. He can barely see anything.
He does spend a lot of time outside golfing, so it's possible he's already had cataract surgery. They put in lenses to set you to perfect vision with those. Sometimes they put in one eye for distance and one for close up, I'm told you get used to that. I think I read that they actually have bifocal lenses now that can be installed.
I was told the bifocal success rate was not as good as regular. 3yrs, later happy with lenses regular lens . One person i know had a far vision lens installed and it is so far off from other eye it is a problem.
The one eye for close up and one eye for distance thing is called monovision! I did it for a while when I was a kid because my nearsightedness was constantly getting worse and they thought it was the amount of time I spent reading (it did not help but my eyes leveled out when I became an adult.) I also had bifocal glasses for a while, which was honestly a cruel thing to do to a middle school aged girl.
Yeah it is not only a political image but also a cultural thing i think, some parts of the world have this idea of what typical men should look and act like. Also it is just the aestethic aspect, we all know that in the US you are "ugly" if you have glasses. :)
Absolutely this one. Look at what he OBVIOUSLY does to make himself appear younger/stronger and you think he wouldn't do something like refuse to wear glasses in public?
My grandma started wearing contacts in her fifties even though my asshole grandpa didn’t want her to and was a jerk about it. He died not long after and she’s 90 now and still wears contacts.
My mom's 75, so maybe this will change by 80. But she wore glasses when I was a kid. Just readers, not a strong prescription. Then her eyes got *better* as the muscles relaxed with age and she doesn't need glasses anymore. Probably if she still drove she would need them for distance, but she doesn't drive anymore. So she doesn't bother. She can read, watch TV, and do everything else she needs to just fine.
Lasik doesnt fix age related vision problems. Your eye muscles start to relax after about age 30. Tho fixing caferacts must be like having entirely new eyes.
Never considered that this is why he prefers the sharpie. Pens write to finely for him to actually see it and he is too... something... to wear glasses
Grapeape2000
Aw that's cute...you think he sees things.

He does wear glasses when he isn’t in front of a camera
Tunica
Maybe he wears contacts, had RK surgery or artificial intraocular lens
psmith00

ActionJohnnie
Doesn’t, no. Can’t, yes.

He may read, but does not comprehend. Not one bit. :o)
DianNaoChong
They are literally engineering talking head videos to catch him up because he won't do daily briefings
bloodbloodbloodblood
LMAO yeah, don't need readers if you never read. But, he's also rich and PITA enough to have MFIOLs. I imagine that's how.

Why do you think he is always squinting? He needs them, but is far too arrogant to actually admit it.

By and large, LASIK doesnt work on presbyopia. Which is less about re-shaping the cornea which is what lasik addresses.
There are other options out there like Raindrop or KAMRA but they aren't nearly as prevalent or successful as LASIK.
EroticZombiePants
You don't need reading glasses when you're looking at giant pictures drawn with crayons.
DrKonrad
Trump is so stupid he does not even wear glasses when looking straight up at the Sun
Nukls
Ionico
Will someone get him admin access already?!
ArchMagos
philmoregraves
You can tell he has a hard time reading whenever he tries without glasses. Like no joke watch him when he tries to actually read something
stoots24
Lol he's not struggling because his eyes are bad....
Targe0
Oh, he needs them, but he doesn't like how they make him look so refuses to wear them.
That's why he's so bad at reading, the motherfucker is blind as fuck.
He can barely see anything.
morninggloryshade777
He thinks glasses make him look bad-?! ROTFLMAO! That wb at the bottom of a very loooong list...!
Targe0
He likely thinks they make him look weak.
It's a vanity issue on his ego.

merxman
Yes, but depending on your particular pathology, etc. readers are still needed/helpful after that. Doesn't magically cure everything.
WhatTheFrench

binocular vision would not work well i think..
seckzie
Most POTUS does not wear glasses, it is a macho image thing. Opposite in EU, where most politicians wear them to look the opposite.
mirria
Lauren Boebert wears non-prescription glasses so she "looks smart".
TripleDane
EU values aligns generally more with intelligence. US values align generally more with brute force.
not All, not everyone. but generally.

pgdave
If he couldn't read he wouldn't need a teleprompter
jeffrodevero
Shut up fuckwit Trump supporter.
pgdave
huh? I'm not sure what in my comment history would make you think I support him.
Terran81
He doesn’t follow the teleprompter anyways. He wings it.
pgdave
And it's so clear when he does too, because his rambling gets even more incoherent.
Ambipolar
Some people over 80 don't need glasses.
Trump however does wear glasses, just not on camera (doesn't want to get them dirty with the makeup I guess).
morninggloryshade777
I have NEVER in many years ever seen him in glasses. So I'm gonna need a recent visual.....
Ambipolar
You realize if you couldn't find any that would prove the statement? But google shouldn't dissapoint you.
PostalHeathen
He probably thinks being seen wearing glasses would make him appear weak. He's vain as hell.
mrthewhitee
It's definitely this one.
smashpro1
Same reason that holds onto those thin whisps of hair instead of shaving it off.

And to think, this is the year of r/bald !

Absolutely this one. Look at what he OBVIOUSLY does to make himself appear younger/stronger and you think he wouldn't do something like refuse to wear glasses in public?
BHPaperstacks
Lol he refused to wear sun glasses to look at an eclipse. Definitely not gonna break out the reading glasses, lol.
deletable
After my mom had eye surgery, she stopped wearing any glasses up until almost 80.
boobityboobityboobity
That's a really high prescription

It was a lens replacement.
mikeatike
Oh yeah, that would do it. :)
I suppose it cant fix the muscles, but I bet that was one hell of a vision improvement.

Yeah him & his sharpies & HUGE 'signature' ...
CoalhouseWalker
Never considered that this is why he prefers the sharpie. Pens write to finely for him to actually see it and he is too... something... to wear glasses
TheMightyMollusk
Too egotistical. He thinks anything that makes him look less than perfect makes him look weak.
DdCno1
This isn't new, by the way. He's been using these sharpies for many decades.
Jamesstin
Sharpie might be easier to and more legible than crayons
SalmonTheWise
He kept eating the crayons.
