The Super Bowl LX flyover

► 7 in tight formation.
► The lone plane out of this picture was the other USAF B-1B Lancer from Ellsworth AFB, SD (not my pic, BTW).

Scrap them and give us fucking healthcare

Are the pilots, ground crews and their commanders loyal to the constitution or to the Organce Menace?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

No doubt that the Superbowl was defended against terrorists by Air Force flyovers.

Morally and financially bankrupt third world shithole cuntry promoting its militarism.

The B-1 is affectionally referred to as the BONE. "B-One". It is a cold-war era supersonic, sweep wing, bomber (the largest payload of any American bomber, even the B52). There was briefly a purposed variant which would instead carry a load of air-to-air missiles, it would be guided by AWACS beyond the horizon to use its supersonic speed and intercept targets over a vast region, which gave it it's variant, "R" for Regional. If it had gone into production it would had been the B-1R, the BONER.

They make that look so easy.

F22 Pilots..

The F-22s got pulled last minute due to "Operational Needs"

o7

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 12

There's about $1.5M that coulda been spent on something worthwhile instead.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

f-22's got pulled for potential offensive needs

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love the planes, huge aviation fan, still I'd rather have free/affordable health care for my tax dollars.

2 months ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 4

I’m always conflicted. War planes are awesome. But what they represent is not.

the two aren't incompatible - real issue is healthcare is ridiculously expensive (inefficient and overpriced)

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you, from those of us with "bird blindness".

cool

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But....the F-15's were there to replace the 2x F-22 from 1FW at Langley AFB. The F-22s were in California Wednesday and Thursday. Then got pulled for "operational assignments". I'll leave it to you to guess what that 'operational' is.

His future war with Iran. The country he accused Obama of planning to attack to distract from problems.

Nothing quite like an ostentatious display of military might for no reason at all.

Could have fed the homeless but…

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Who pays for that?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Honestly, I would have flinched when I saw them. I would believe that DJT would authorize a strike on the superb owl.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

It's impressive that the Air Force was able to find two B-1Bs that weren't down for maintenance at the same time.....

2 months ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 5

One day they will find a plane to replace it.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That would be the B-21, which will replace the B-1 and B-2 by 2040

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Its going to be replaced with the B-52.......again

America: Look at our tools of Genocide!

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 11

Fun fact: F-22 was planned to be in the flyover but were pulled so that they can participate in an upcoming genocide

wasting fuel and funds at the same time

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

it's not a waste to them if they hit their recruitment goals

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

No more than they would have wasted anyway. When they do a flyover, it counts into each pilot's and aviator's flight hours, which they need to maintain active flight status. Every ounce of fuel they consumed would have been consumed somewhere else.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Elsewhere like fuel for heating.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

probably only 14million usd in taxpayer money

2 months ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 8

Money well spent

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

No more than any other training mission on any given day

2 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Yes and no. The pilots need flight hours to maintain their flight status. This counts. If they hadn't done this, they would have used those hours somewhere else. It's all budgeted in already. Doing a Superbowl flyover doesn't add a new cost, just uses existing budget. In all actuality, though, you're probably looking at ~$200,000 in fuel. Mostly because of the B-1Bs, which had to fly in from South Dakota

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hahahahaha not even close. Each F 35 is 100+ million. The f-18s are the cheapest at about 80 million. Maybe 14 million just to do the fly over

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

That's what they meant. But in actuality, probably closer to $200k in fuel (mostly because of the B-1Bs)

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think that's probably what they meant. These planes weren't like new Superb Owl editions

The only jets that will ever reach the Superbowl

What the hell, man? It’s not like we chose this team. It’s not like we surveyed the league and said “yup, that’s the team for me.” Flash Gordon dais he was “quarterback, New York Jets” and I’ve been waiting for that moment to equaled my whole life.

And tEcHnIcAlLy the Jets have already reached the Super Bowl. They f-ing won it, too. So piss off and pick on a franchise that deserves it, like the Raiders.

I was 9…Mets, Jets and Knicks. I thought it would always be that way 😐

Hey, a QB drafted by the Jets just won one.

This is it. The front office is a joke.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my fucking guy why would you say that

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

on this, the day of my daughter’s wedding

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What does that have to do with football. Waste of taxpayer dollars for false patriotism linked to a popular game.

2 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 18

Why do we play OUR OWN anthem in a league where ONLY WE play?

Insane shit to me

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Nothing. It's a "recruiting aid."

2 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

That's... all sports. John Oliver's piece on stadiums

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Those pilots and aircraft would be flying anyway. As I would hope people would know by now; being a pilot requires maintaining your flight hours every year. Same as most any professional license that requires continuing education credits. This is just to add in a little “recruitment” ad along the way.

It's a reminder to US citizens that trump can bomb us with poo any time he feels like

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Bread and circuses

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 5

It's also a way to get air crews their annual required flight time for the maintenance of their training while doing something cool looking for spectators. Two birds, one stone. They'd have to be in the air anyways... might as well make a show of it.

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Not to mention that the fly bys are very popular with the taxpayers. Even when the game is played indoors, which tells you quite a bit about those taxpayers.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I mean, have you HEARD those things go over? Even indoors they rattle your ribcage.
