Summer is the best. #memes #unpopular_opinion_puffin. Edited to add: JFC, of course I don’t want the climate apocalypse. I just want to be able to do outdoor water sports and hike in the mountains at comfortable temperatures and eat ice cream cones and watch the sunset at 9pm all year round. It’s my favorite. I get a little sad when September rolls around every year.

It’s at about this point in the year that I really look forward to the evenings cooling down, and getting the winter gear back out.

My good sir it has been 40c more than once and 35c for a straight week here on Toronto. I hate summer.

I wanted 1975 to last forever.

As someone who lives somewhere where the earth will kill them for six or seven months of the year... No

Where I live, summer is a brief reprieve from cold, wet, windy dreariness the rest of the year, so I feel ya.

But if you live in, say, Australia, then your summer lasting forever would mean my winter would last forever. I’m not sure I would give my endorsement to that.

Preach it, internet friend!

It's summer heat year round for the most part here. Hot, humid and loaded with mosquitoes. I just hate when it gets dark at 4pm in "winter." It's already getting dark around 7:30-8:00pm so it won-t be long now.

So...sounds like the unspoken goal is to have a "winter" job in Sydney or Auckland, then?

This could work if I didn’t have kids in school.

I have considered moving, but there are lots of good reasons to stay where I am.

Move to South Texas. You'll miss the other seasons soon.

Yep. Lived here most my life and it's mostly been 3 hot seasons and 1 "I got burn marks from touching anything in the sun for a few minutes"

Nah fuck that. It's nearly 22 and I'm trying to relax on the balcony, but it's 30C(!) out here and it really, really sucks.

Yeah, I am a firm believer that summer doesn’t work unless you are beside a pool, lake, beach, sprinkler, etc., with a cold beverage.

The temperatures are in the 100s this week. My husband’s work refuses to turn on the ac. He’s been in the ER for heat exhaustion.

I am sorry to hear that. That’s awful.

For some reason, large businesses in the southwest do not believe in the use of air conditioners in the summer. Even the customers complain.

I recently traveled out West and noticed that the AC in large public spaces was noticeably warmer than it is on the East Coast. Seems backwards.

I get six months of burning to a crisp and six months of Luke trapped in the Wampa cave on Hoth... gimme some spring and fall back...

You misspelled “Fall” wrong.

Does that mean they spelled “Fall” correctly?

Sentiment seconded.

Thirded. I loved the thunderstorms and the fall breezes. The change in weather you can smell.

Fourthed. I love Fall. The crisp at night, the warm days, the no miserable heat thing. And the perfect amount of dark.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think the perfect amount of dark is on June 21st. At my latitude, that’s sundown at 21:30 and sunup before I ever am.

Me and the sun stopped getting along about 4 years ago. I don't know how I fucked up my circadian rhythm / melatonin production that badly, but, I did. I'm more awake and alert in the dark and much less prone to anxiety attacks and depression. Dead of winter is a bit too much dark, fall is perfect.
