music

Kinda like an evolved Captain Beefheart. Awesome. Zappa would have love this. I love it, too. I'm a 70 y.o. former sound man. Ran sound in Athens Ga. in the late 70's.

I see where they sell it on vinyl. Says they will release their two albums on CD in June. They also have the normal downloads, too, for you younguns.

Aliens aren't visiting us for serious reason, but somehow we still need to add lots and lots of small ones all the time.

Spinal tap mark 2.

Needed that. I just grooved so hard to this.

absolutely love how they managed to not only look as weird as they sound, but also to somehow make microtonal music so well that it actually stuck in my head well enough for me to replay the entire performance over and over again entirely in my head for weeks

Definitely gonna own the CD

Fun to watch but I don't think I'll be adding the music to any playlists any time soon.

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

hell yeah, they blew up a couple months ago, and VERY deservedly so. Excellent sound

more like Clownc0re had a kid that decided to be nice for a change.

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They have a couple of songs that's like Primus doing a rendition of a Dick Dale surf rock number

19 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Wonder if they were swimming in their own sweat wearing those? Lol

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not bad but for bands named after diseases I prefer Anthrax.

11 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a Canadian, this is definitely the energy I've come to expect from French CBC

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My boss at work shared their music with me about a month ago, we've been enjoying it ever since. Then again we are from Quebec.

Bucket head could shred.

That's not the best way to experience them, watch the KEXP video on youtube. Their music builds up into something multi-layered, this was such a short performance that it bummed me.

15 hours ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

The KEXP video is excellent!

have another complete live show that I found these days! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5yza2YWmDA

This is the second of their performances I’ve seen; I like this one more. But while I can appreciate their musicianship, I’m not exactly a fan. It’s not about their skill, it’s my taste in music.

Still, I’m keeping an eye on them & wish them success. Their style may change, as might my tastes

15 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who likes that stuff, I'll be the first one to say that it's not for everybody. I'm equally happy and baffled by the skytocketing success they are having right now. 😄

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don’t DISLIKE them; I just don’t truly enjoy them. I wouldn’t avoid their stuff, but I wouldn’t buy it either.

I also get the feeling I’d rather prefer their videos over just their recorded music (as in DVD vs CD) because the visuals of their performances matter just as much. The music alone is only half of the show.

34 minutes ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're really getting their 15 minutes.

18 hours ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

That’s like 14.9 minutes too long

13 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

My favorite part of this hypetrain is the Youtube music educators trying to explain their music and see their "what am I even doing here, why is this even a thing" face.

13 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes but I also feel like this music forces the simulation to have to work harder and my brain almost resets.

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah dude I just saw their mini live concert like 2 weeks ago and they're all over my feed

9 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

27:53 minutes

11 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I mean theyre alright, but theyre music isnt all that remarkable.

14 hours ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

Its a great example of music that is very technically proficient, but to the point where it's really not that interesting. Its like the difference between a shredding guitar solo that hits all the notes and has all the theory behind it vs Neil Young just fucking sending it with a shit ton of gain and like 4 notes. I appreciate the artistry of this, but I'll stick with Neil Young for regular listening

13 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They're their there, it'll be alright.

10 hours ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I can see why people like the parts after they set up the loops, but it takes minutes of mind-numbing repetition, I can never get to those parts.

14 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I wonder if they would have got this much attention without the dressing up. I’m not making a judgement, just wondering. There are a ton of highly talented experimental musicians out there (as my YT feed keeps showing me)

13 hours ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

No they wouldn't, and the hidden identity musician thing is very played out at this point. People are drawn to the weird unique novelty of their music and will move on when they realize it isn't actually very good.

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

like Daft Punk?

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its not just dressing (or talent). They have their whole out of space character, dont speak our language and the guys behind stays anonymous. Lot of meme potential

9 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

From musicians who know the work they put behind it all. Absoloutely. The dressup i would say is more for the theatrics for the casual listener

13 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Musically, I like it. The theatrics are off putting for me personally.

9 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s my point, if it’s like jazz where to really appreciate it you have to understand what they’re doing technically, then did the disguises bring them to a wider audience who don’t fully get it technically (like me). Anyways it’s a freaky package !

12 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well yeah, strange things get noticed more, even our talking about it *now* is a testament to the concept
