Part of that is because you're reading sensationalist headlines, e.g. from thedailymail. Real news/ journalism doesn't use words like that. Even the article beneath those headlines rarely resembles the headline within the same source.

I will never ever be complacent about these people again. The last ten years or so has completely eroded whatever core belief was in there that "in the end, eventually, sanity usually wins out". They don't give a shit about anything besides power, and will burn this place down to keep it. Headlines never give me optimism anymore. Idk
