#5 I say brutal is because I've learned people don't like honesty. I've lost track how often I've been asked what I think and been straight, concise (not rude, I still know what tact is) and get told I'm an asshole or etc. What I've learned is most people don't actually want your advice/opinion, they just want to be listened to or validated.

So yeah, you ask me to be honest, I'll say it'll be brutal, not because it will be, but because I expect they won't be able to handle it even if it's soft

#5 there are times where brutal honesty is needed. There's brutality for its own sake, and there's brutally calling out that things are unacceptable. Your racist uncle dropping slurs. Your friend whom you love but you won't support their drug habit anymore. The creep at the bar that needs to leave your friends alone. These are people who need a bit of brutality. I get the intent. Some people suck. Some need to be told they suck. That's the brutal honesty worth using
