Nothing is more dystopian than gathering pregnant migrant children in a detention center where adequate reproductive health care isn't available for high risk pregnancies.

Horrible things happened today. The Speaker of the House called for six Democrats to be criminally charged for their video encouraging military service members to refuse illegal orders. Despite court orders against it, the IRS shared migrant tax data with DHS. And somehow CBP now has laser weaponry to disable drones and fired it in Texas without alerting anyone.

None of the other stories matter. Get on the phone, get into your email and messages, and tell every single politician who relies on your vote to stop the government from sending pregnant children to a detention center because they are unaccompanied. Every state and county has child protective services. Use them instead of jail cells in a state where abortion is banned.

Pregnant unaccompanied minors is already a terrifying intersection of minority, alone in an unfamiliar country trying to survive something you should have family around you for? Fuck that.

And then we crowd them in their special jail and make that survival *so much harder*.

This country has long been failed, but this is beyond the pale.

It's so troubling that people who work in a family detention center are fighting back and demanding that things change.

#2 To recapitulate: The US had a working nuclear treaty with Iran, but Trump broke it because he felt it wasn't draconic enough for Trumps tastes (also there was Obamas signature on it), which not only pissed off Iran but all other signatories. Then he brought back sanctions and threats. Then he restarted negotiations for a new treaty, felt they weren't going well, and ordered a military strike, which was an act of war, after which he said "Now is the time for peace". Now he's negotiating again.

All the while Trump kisses the asses of their arch enemies, the Saudis, sell them weapons, lets them acquire their own nukes, and constantly takes their side in every conflict (unless it's against Israel).

As much as I hate the Iranian government, I absolutely see why they might want nukes to protect themselves. This is psychotic.

And the doj failed to do so because they were using illegal tactics to put lapdog in, which was a contempt worthy effort on its own. Now they think they can just fire the guy clearly out of nothing but spite? Hold deputy ag in criminal contempt. Attach time in a prison cell to this behavior or it WILL continue.

It will definitely continue. And yes, the timing and method was something out of a farce.

This is an outsider perspective, but it has less to do with the fact that ID is required, and more to do with the fact that the permitted types of ID are difficult to acquire.

One type is the passport, not everyone in the US has one of those, and processing to get one can take a long time.

The other is birth certificate plus drivers license. The names on both must be an exact match. If you are a married woman, they likely won't. Also not everyone has a drivers license.

Oh I see. Yeah that does sound bad. Here according to the website it’s any form of id with name, image, and date of birth, and it can be out of date. So that does put the voter id issue into perspective for me. Thank you

Most of these posts there are only one or two* items that really stand out. This time there are 10+. 377 is awful.

*15 years ago the entire list would be stand out awful, but Trump & co. have succeeded in normalizing a lot of this shit. Hopefully we can eventually get back to the point where all of these actions are abnormal, not standard.

To be fair, there is a strategic maritime component there too. I honestly don't think that's Trump's main interest, but the fact that the strategists can say that as well gives him some cover.

You may be right, but I don't think tRumps main interests are always his own. Greenland may be strategic to the US in a game of global annihilation, but not so much to the countries who are now redirecting more conventional resources up there.
