Pete Hegseth prayed to God for "overwhelming violence" at the Pentagon yesterday, then eliminated most of the faiths the military chaplaincy serves.

Pope Leo XIV already warned him that "God cannot be enlisted in darkness." The head of the Episcopal Church expressed alarm. Senator Raphael Warnock, pastor of Martin Luther King's church, rebuked him for platforming a preacher who wants America to be a Christian theocracy.

Their condemnations haven't slowed him down. Hegseth has promised "no quarter, no mercy" for America's enemies, a phrase the Pentagon's own Law of War Manual classifies as a war crime. He told CBS that "the providence of our almighty God" protects American troops. Yesterday he prayed for "wicked souls delivered to eternal damnation," then eliminated 169 religious designations from the military's chaplaincy system.

Senator Mark Kelly and five other members of Congress were threatened just months ago for making a video reminding troops they have a duty to refuse illegal orders. Trump called it sedition, punishable by death. Hegseth tried to demote the combat veteran and astronaut and is still fighting him in court. Then he stood at a Pentagon podium and issued exactly the kind of order Kelly warned about. "No quarter" is a war crime. And it invites America's enemies to treat us the same way. Call your representatives and demand Hegseth's removal before he turns a devastating war into a generational crusade that endangers every American.

Why the fuck isn't he on the front in the middle east himself when he wants war so badly?! Why isn't he the first to throw himself into the fight for that "Holy war" he so desparatl wanted and helped go start? It's what god wants according to his own tattoo. So what could go wrong? Despicable and pathetic coward!

#2 - they'd just assume disband the CDC, because... "RFK Jr.'s bunk theories."

FASCISM always, 𝗔𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 directly attacks the institutions of science, medicine, and learning. Why? Because the truth is a threat. Because science can contradict their narratives. They don't even care if it harms themselves and puts their own nation at risk. It'll be another gaslighting point for fascist control. "See? It's a mess, because of the libruls!"

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fascism is like sand.

It can be built up. Even fortified with a binder... and can look oh so impressive. But sufficient wave force from a public that won't tolerate it and... it falls apart. Especially if it's founded on a cult of personality.

All of Trumps goons are too stupid to realize that they're all going to end up in prison.

Reducing the religions recognized by the military is part of the march to have the US only recognize one version of one religion by cutting representation to the 31 religions that the one denomination, version, of a religion recognizes. Reprehensible.

I keep telling Christians that only the official brand of Christianity will be allowed. They chuckle when you quote "First they came" to them.

#14 Misk has a history of saying he'll pay for something and then just never doing it. It's why he and Trump get along so well.

#12 this woman is being awarded 3 million if i recall the story correctly. There should be a class action that tanks meta as everyone deserves compensation for the damages brought by facebook and Instagram.

#4 Hey Scientists, Canada would love to have you! Its not a perfect country, but its safer and more friendly.

2 weeks ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Not so sure carney doesn't seem to give a fuck about the environment, its only about the economy with carney

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 11

You're not wrong, but I havent seen the same level of hostility to science and anti-science lunatics in Canada, at least, not in government. Carney will allow scientists to do their work, whereas in the USA it's been completely disrupted. But yeah, Carney is a banker and only cares about economic issues and in Canada that means Oil must flow. But there isn't this cabal of climate deniers at the highest levels of government like there is in USA now.

Deporting people who spend their money in the U.S. and who also perform difficult jobs for less pay doesn't seem like a good idea to me. :o(

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure their plan is to use private prisons, and pay people even less.

#7 #8 awaiting renaming warfighters to christian crusaders to keep with the theme of religious nutters in power.

Im begining to wonder if any headlines involving Kegsbreath should be titled [Religious Extremism] instead of just [Military]

The sub categories were. I started by showing primary and secondary categories, but it got too confusing for me, and I was categorizing them! ;)

2 weeks ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

DC is ~6000 miles from Iran and they managed to get to 4k by strapping two motors together. Wouldn't be much more difficult to attach another stage and we don't have crap to stop it.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The "attack" on the island base was denied by Iran. Iran stated that their missiles are for self defense and do not have that range capability.

Points towards a false flag intended to scare Europe into joining the war.

It isnt working.

Chaplains earned their rank.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They aren't losing their rank; at least, not the 31 still "approved" by Drunken Pete. They will no longer display their rank on their uniforms. As a former soldier, I agree with THIS part. It will make chaplain's more approachable by grunts. I do not agree with eliminating faiths that are no longer on the fascist approved list.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was kind of torn by the uniform bit too. Seemed reasonable, but I have to be honest that I'm suspicious about all of Hegseth's moves. Question: do you think that without the outward rank insignia that any respect or pull they have in a situation is reduced? I don't know the military mindset and don't know if there's already a chaplain first, officer second mindset.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In theory, they are chaplain first. In most of the situations I have witnessed, chaplain do not get involved in operations where rank would be an issue. Their rank is mostly within the bounds of other chaplain and for pay scales. However, enlisted people can be intimidated by rank, especially O4 and above, so in that regard I like the change. However, yes, anything Hegseth does fills me with enormous suspicion.

That's very cool. Thanks for explaining that to me. I am also a Dresden fan and getting ready to tear into Twelve Months next week!

Excellent research.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Numbers are difficult to find as religious preference is self-reported, many service members may not disclose their affiliation or classify themselves as pagan, but Wicca is officially recognized with practitioners holding ceremonies at locations like Fort Hood. The pentacle VA military grave marker was approved in 2007 with "more than a dozen" gravestones with the mark issued in the following two years and in 2017 Wiccan, Druid, and Heathen were added to the U.S. Army religious codes.

2 weeks ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I've never met a Wiccan that wasn't ostentatiously opposed to serving any military anywhere. Hell a good few I've had the delight of camping with don't believe in wearing shoes and avoid places where they're required. But hey look at what American Baptists have come around to in the last few years... so anything is possible.

I dislike the feeling that calling it the 'Iran War' puts the blame on Iran. Our government, the US government did this to do pump n dump schemes that we're seeing, constantly. Our gov created this mad chaos. We're at war with everyone, it's insanity. US Gov War.

2 weeks ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

yeah but that's much harder to identify, because which one?

2 weeks ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I mean "the war on Iran" works, it worked for Iraq.

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's why they renamed it the "Dept. of War." Because they plan to be at war with almost everything. Including themselves.

Fascism is usually deconstructive... to the point of self implosion. Their rampant greed for power and money does them in, IF the public refuses to tolerate it.

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I agree. Iran isn't great. It has its own issues (many of which the US caused) lets call this what it is. This is the US-Israeli war of terror

2 weeks ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

To be fair, it's consistent with the general theme where most of the wars the US has been in are named after the country they're fought in. Could borrow conventions from older conflicts like the Spanish-American War or the War of 1812 instead though, in which case it'd be the Iranian-American War or the War of 2026, respectively.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, I've been waiting for the language to morph on this one.

To be honest, it doesn't matter what I call it. It matters what society calls it.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If we named it after America, just because they're the aggressors, do you know how many of those we'd have?

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Maybe then people would WTF more? If attention was drawn specifically to the fact that we've been the aggressor in so many

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They would just blend together. What's the difference between American War XXII and American War XXIV after all?

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, you'd probably do better including the starting year, like The Second American War of 2026. AmerWar 26B.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, all those jokes and memes about American wars, all the "no more wars!" sentiment didn't come from nothing. I don't think lack of awareness is the problem.
