Sir, Please get away from the Whataburger drive-thru lane.

I genuinely can't tell if this is a pro-islam or anti-islam message.
thegrievousangel
Hell yea, a majority of Muslims aren’t jihadist assholes.

Penis size is not important - even if the automobile club says it pays to be long.

Pretty sure there are two Americas. One North and one South. I forget if Central America is considered its own thing or just a map description. :P
sometimesarobot
Central America is North America, just a map description because it's between the two Americas (or in the middle of the one America, depending on if you think North and South are the same continent. People argue about this.)

The world would be a much better place with less religion, no matter if it's Christian or Muslim.
majortool
Sir, this is a Wendy's.
johnvictor
Great sentiment, but I find all religions to be pretty bigoted at this point. We protect Islam for it to turn around and do the same shit Christians do to LGBT+ people.
Starfox5
Exactly. Religion should be treated as just another opinion - it's not anything else.

Apparently this was in 2016
FestusMA
The PTA at my son’s (very diverse) school in Cambridge, MA did this something similar at drop-off the day after the 2016 election. It was very moving and cathartic.
FlyingTigerRose
Yup - have seen this for years, now. Still need it, though, more than ever.

So far. It’s Imgur. It will be posted daily for a week at least.

yeah...showing support for Muslims right now might not go over as well...
NotACanadian
Why now?

Israeli information operations in full swing and that's causing spillover into Islamophobia. Just look at this https://www.nbcnews.com/news/dearborn-wsj-article-jihad-capital-michigan-mayor-responds-rcna137245 . In 2016 the #1 issue was mostly immigration and free trade. That being said, Hamas/Iranian operations are doing the same thing for anti-semitism.
NotACanadian
In 2016 people were still afraid of ISIS and ISIS-inspired militants. Every time there was even a lone-wolf terrorist attack, someone would post an "Let's see who did iaaaand it's Muslims" meme on Imgur and it would reach the front page. Islamophobia has if anything had a gradual if bumpy decline.
But you have a point about the psyop spillover from both sides. Opposing Israel isn't antisemetic but a lot of real antisemitists have used this as an opportunity to sneak their propaganda in.

Nah, fuck religion.
WorstPostEver
This is not about religion though
jfd8u438fdsfkds
What is it about?
WorstPostEver
Acceptance.
jfd8u438fdsfkds
Tolerating the intolerant?
NotACanadian
Ah yes, the Internet atheist's larval form. Currently subsiding on a heavy diet of "We just wanna grill" memes and Neil deGrasse Tyson quotes superimposed over pretty (but false color) images of space, its nervous system and empathic centers are currently too underdeveloped (having had to survive the predatory sting of its colonizing religion) to distinguish personal beliefs from the well-being of social identities. It may, indeed, unknowingly continue to advance harsh beliefs and policies 1/
LtColonelBillKilgore
Damn, you pissed off exactly the kinds of stuck up people that needed to read this. Sort of proving your point too.
NotACanadian
2/ against "inferior" groups in the name of "Progress", in effect continuing to be yet another chesspiece for the same forces that use religion to propel their goals. In time, however, it will pupate into a mature atheist: one fully realized in its beliefs and motivations, one where the pursuit of knowledge is done for love of knowledge alone and not the love of "sophistication", and one that, even though their perceptions of reality and approaches to navigating life differ extremely,

3/ finds within its immense wellspring of empathy for all forms of humanity ways to ally with the cosmologically-divergent to further true common goals of life and happiness.
jfd8u438fdsfkds
Cool story, bro.
NotACanadian
Thanks man, hope you read it in David Attenborough's voice.

I find it hilarious that I agree the whole ' Fuck religion ' type of atheist is obnoxious, and yet, find your post so verly condescending and shit that it comes off as if you have to be sucking religion's dick to survive in this world.
There's a middleground and both of y'all need to find it more than you need to find Jesus.
LtColonelBillKilgore
I find it hilarious that you read a post calling out immature and toxic arrogance, but also saying that there's healthier ways to direct your views that lift people up instead of throwing them down, and your first reaction was "You must be working with the ENEMY!!!!1!!!!!"
jfd8u438fdsfkds
Is it really that obnoxious to say "fuck religion"?
Hextant
It's not the sentiment, it's the fact that this post is literally just meant to tell ostracized people that at least this guy accepts them, trying to normalize the thought a little for people who need a kind word.
It's not shoving religion down anyone's throat. So it just feels obnoxious to make that comment be the focus on a post that never directly shows or mentions it.
It's like going to a restaurant with vegan options and someone loudly saying FUCK MEAT, BTW when ordering. No point.
Hextant
And bc it's a MOSQUE, this is likely a sign directed to the Muslims that attend it. People who really need it, because God forbid they aren't good old American Christians, in this whack ass world we live in right now. It's just not the place, in my opinion, so it's obnoxious.
NotACanadian
Condescending people deserve to be condescended towards. Sorry you're still stuck in that phase.
Hextant
... how is ' yeah, fuck religion ' a condescending post??? A stupid one, yes. An unnecessary one, yes. There's nothing condescending about it, though.
I see you aren't one for rationality I guess, so I'm out from here.
NotACanadian
Because you're talking about a marginalized community of people who navigate life along a common path or interpreting reality -- whether or not that leads to bad decisions is a moot point in this context, the more important one is that they're hated for it by other members of the community and feel unsafe. Yet there's always going to be one asshole who has literally nothing else going for himself than feeling superior by looking at a message of love and saying "fuck those guys!".
