Pete Buttigieg – Goes From Hemingway to the Death Star, explaining what Trump's threats of ending a civilization has done to the US and the ramifications of it
Yikes. The truth is that USA was never thrusted, the other countries just saw benefical to abide by the rules USA impossed. Don't you remember when 9/11 happened and there wer doubts about it? It had to be more terroeist attacks to convince people to support the war against terror. Trump os just doing openly what others presidents did to the world. But this time the benefits are for a smaller circle. And I don't know if that is what upsets the rest of the world.
I can think of at least 575 tribes of people who would not benefit. Also, over 7,000 animal species. Earth would also lose 766-823 million acres (310-333 million hectares) of forest. That might have drawbacks.
It might also be hard to travel between Canada and Mexico by truck or rail; you'd all suddenly need boats or planes.
Every time I hear americans say that I'm like "have you been living under a rock since 2016?" Nobody thinks that anymore! The free world has been forced to move past the USA, USA is a rogue fascist belligerent now, dismantling alliances and bent on conquest of a whole bunch of sovereign nations. That's not freedom and it's not leadership.
I said something about finally gaining the world’s trust again once the turd is gone - my husband pointed out that the rest of the world has no reason to believe we won’t just elect another version again.
If we don’t close up all those gentleman’s agreements (no felons, etc), then they’re right.
No. As a brit who has done 20 000 miles in america. No i wont be back until you fix it. Get rid of citizens united and first past the post and you might have a chance. We need the latter here too.
That's what I heard in some podcasts that interviewed seasoned geopolitical strategists, especially from the UK: No one could ever trust Trump, but one term would have been a bump in the road, some black swan event, that the US was resilient enough to weather. The second term undermined the global trust in the US electorate as a whole, so no one will be happy to build a long term strategic relationship that needs trust in the US as a partner.
Buttigieg should look inside, how all of this kicked off as a consequence of his and many other's ill considered and long standing unconditional support for Israel. Even after nearly the entire party stepped out. Stop taking the $ Pete, and go on record in support for jailing Netanyahu. Then talk about Trump...
I hate it when people say it isnt Left vs. Right, it's all of us vs. The 1%, which is actually what the left vs. Right has always really been about, its just the people on the right are too fucking stupid or stubborn to see or admit it.
He's right. No one can trust the US when the President intentionally lures negotiators into one place so the Israelis can kill them & members of their families (like he did with the Hamas negotiators in Qatar back in September of last year).
September timeline - Trump summons them together to discuss one of his peace proposals on the 8th, Israelis bomb them on the 9th. By the 10th, Trump admits he knew it was coming and gave the OK. https://dohanews.co/israel-targets-hamas-negotiators-in-doha-live-blog/ https://www.theatlantic">ve-blog/">https://dohanews.co/israel-targets-hamas-negotiators-in-doha-live-blog/ https://www.theatlantic.com/national-security/archive/2025/09/israels-qatar-strike-hamas-negotiations/684171/
There are two businessmen that are running a country like they ran their business. One was a casino mogul that bankrupted six casinos, and the other is a investment banker that steered two countries out of the 2008 financial crisis
I don't think he's the BEST for Canada, he's still far too conservative minded for my liking, sure he's helping recover the economy, but by gutting many of the programs and facilities designed to HELP low income Canadians and Minorities, instead of pushing legislation to tax the rich and make it so people can survive. At best he's a fiscal Conservative leading the Liberal Party, recovering our Economy, but the poor are still getting poorer and having LESS options to help themselves as a 1/?
I'm just so bitter and cynical I'm happy that PPs conservatives didn't win. I'm okay with "not as bad as it could have been". I'm not a fan of the liberals, Trudeau was a fake progressive but now they seem to be moving even more to the right. However, Maple MAGA seems to be collapsing so that's good. I'm so far beyond hoping that we could get a decent progressive prime minister, it just doesn't seem realistic anymore. I vote NDP or Green usually but neither of them are doing well these days.
result, and our middle class is still shrinking exponentially fast as the rich get richer. We NEED a Liberal MINORITY and a strong NDP Opposition to get things on track. But honestly I'd have taken a shit flinging Gibbon over PP the Trump Wannabe. 2/2
Lil PP would have bankrupt this country. Carny is alright. I just want politicians that actually want to improve their homeland rather than profit of it but I guess that's asking too much

Leader of the Free world? That's denial.
Madone7
I understand the comment, but leader of the free world is an outdated and arrogant concept.

If the entire USA was erased from the planet, everyone would benefit

Yes, but isn't Pete a GAY MAN? And what about HER EMAILS? AND HIS LAPTOP?
That's the problem, anything to the contrary just gets tuned out

Well, genocide is pretty common and accepted in the bible. Just ask the Ephamites. Oh wait, they're all gone.
QueenV17
No, all of this kicked off because a bunch of racist sycophants voted for Trump to get in office again. Those are the people we have to blame.
