I will not stop being grateful for the NDP for making this their end-all.
I've had $4000 worth of dental work done in the last 3 weeks and not a penny out of my pocket.

Progressives will help people.

During a root canal suddenly saw smoke coming out of my mouth. Dentist caught the cotton ball on fire for a second.

It's such an... unpleasant smell. Bur still, good on ya for getting the work done.

Carney has been great on international and trade stuff, but he's letting domestic issues (including the environment) fall by the wayside.

He should be putting everything behind pharmacare, but he's mostly ignored one of the greatest achievements of his predecessor.

Was it really burning nerves or was it a thermofill that was inserted into the empty space where the nerve used to be?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're probably right!

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Burning nerves. Sounds like a band name.

Stinky Bone Bits is the first album name

Congrats on the teeth!

Being a member of the poorer, more mentally defective tribe to the south of Canada, I had to pay for my own adult dental work. But I don’t regret it a bit.

Fucking “luxury bones.”

We just got lucky in the last few years because one of our minority parties said they just won't vote if the Liberal party didn't agree to guarantee dental for everyone. And they did it, and then we also got a bunch of other positive things passed.

I know you know, but you guys need to have more than two parties

When I was 15 I had a dentist drill a cavity in a front incisor tooth with no novocaine. I pulled the armrest off his chair and he was mad at me. When I got my own insurance I left him behind ASAp.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I spent $4,400 in 3 Weeks at the dentist recently. All out of my pocket. Yea usa!

I was fitted for a crown and a bridge on Tuesday. It was effing painful.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Mine was 15k$, *laughs in American*

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Up here, it's about $1200 for a root canal each. But I paid nothing because the minority government said that they would vote against the major parties unless the Liberals agreed to install dental work as part of health care
Under 80k/person or 120k household, and even then they'll cover 50-80%

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just had $1200 out of pocket in dental care done today, and that was with insurance, following the $300 out of pocket spent on Monday in prep for today.

Health care in the US is broken, just like my molar.

Grateful to have it done, but I too know the smell of burning nerves and the sounds and smells of drilling into bone.

No red penguin for me!

I hope your system will get fixed someday soon

I haven't had dental insurance in years and years. It finally caught up to me last year, but fingers crossed I might be good for another decade now.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don’t wait for infection and pain, go to a dental school where it’s cheaper

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m really jealous! After having my kids my teeth have gone downhill very badly. Broken a couple of them too. Happy for you though!

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Let me one up OP... I have smelled my own vas deferens burning. Getting my vasectomy, the Dr wanted to sow off his new machine that cauterizes the ends of the tubes. So he literally picked up the little bit left over on the tray, slips it on the tip of the tool and activates it, all right in my face.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd still do it again 1,000 times though. Very much worth it.

When I had LASIK to improve my vision, they used laser to cut my cornea open and it smelled just like when I got a root canal done

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Welcome to the world of only needed a local anesthetic! Lolol people don’t believe me when tell them I’ve had all my wisdom teeth out that way and even went to work same day.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been working for months to get covered. My entire family is but I didn't get approved. I don't know what's happening but I currently have two half teeth in my mouth and another three working their way there 2 teeth that need caps and another repair that needs to be fixed. If I don't get that insurance soon it'll cost even more but right now I'm just shy of 8k of work. I'm not gonna have teeth before I get approved.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But I thought you’d have to wait a bazillionty years to get an appointment?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You forgot the /s
That's what everyone thinks.
I literally walked into a high rated dental office, asked if they accepted the Canadian dental plan, they said yes, I had an X-ray and cleaning next week, have had 3 root canals in 3 weeks all covered

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had hoped that by using the made up term “bazillionty” it would be apparent I was being sarcastic. Oh well.
I’m glad you were able to get your teeth taken care of quickly and cheaply!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh I meant for the losers who didn't understand that

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Here’s hoping the party doesn’t get wiped out next election completely. The leadership pool isn’t the most inspiring.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to be part of it, honestly.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm going to be spending around $8K soon for 2 new teeth if not more

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am a dumbass canadian in need of a lot of dental work- how did you get it covered?

Canadian Dental Care Plan - Apply - Canada.ca https://share.">anada.ca">Canada.ca https://share.google/dCwGhamk9WW97Jnfb

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You have to fill a form on the Canadian Dental Care Plan website and if you're elligible, they send you an insurance card. You must earn less than $90,000/year, but since you've claimed to be a dumbass, it's probably the case! Fellow dumbass here and got my card a couple months ago.

2 months ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

Going to ask my boss for a demotion. This sounds pretty dope.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I literally just got a letter and a card sent to me. I can continue being a dumbass!

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Love to hear it (except for the smell.) Dental care is healthcare, and everybody deserves it.

2 months ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 1

In Norway, the rich oil nation, they have concluded that teeth are not part of the body and therefore you have to pay dental treatment in full.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, no, no !! Those are LUXURY bones! /s

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Once had a root canal. Not only could I smell the cooked nerve, the dentist decided to show it to me wrapped on the instrument like spaghetti on a fork "wanna see what your nerve looks like?" ...no thankyou

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I smelled my vasectomy.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why were you so close to it?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was awake and smelled him burning my junk closed.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That sounds like a horror movie, but with a great ending

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

After 4 spawn, yes it was.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I only know what burning tooth smells like, unfortunately I had to pay for the experience at the time.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

But if everyone after you got it done for free, you'd be stoked for them, right?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd be happier if nobody ever got to experience that smell again and way happier if all medical stuff was free, but yes, if it got made a rule that if you smelled burning tooth your stuff was free, I'd be stoked.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only stoked about the free part, not so much about the burning part.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't know what burning nerves smell like but I know what nerve pain feels like. Ugh. Didn't know I was experiencing nerve pain and kept trying to use pain meds and it obviously did nothing.
I hope you got/get some relief.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh I have insane nerve issues in my thigh after a surgery. It's burning, freezing, numb and sharp all at the same time

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you have any suggestions?

Big fan of Jag and his NDP but this last Fed election for me, it was a wasted voted and giving one to Lil Lord PP so… here we are with Carney. Good call I’d say 🇨🇦 Congratulations on getting your luxury bones covered 💰

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I had to vote for libs for this one. And I believe in Carney in terms of dealing with the world vs trump

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, this was unfortunately the call that a lot of us had to make this past election. We had to vote against the party we didn't want, instead of voting for the party we wanted. It was the right call, i just wish it wasn't the one we had to make.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, like ideal world I want an NDP gov, comprehensive vision/dental/mental health/pharmacare and UBI.

But unfortunately instead of voting for what we want we had to vote to fight PP and the fashies so Carney it was. And Carney's doing a pretty balling job, so that's good

Apologies.

I wish the ndp were more popular. And i wish jack layton was still here. Because with even a tiny bit of power they do good stuff like get basic dental covered for most ppl and the elderly.

2 months ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 2

I just hope they can make a comeback from the last election. Losing all those seats and official party status really sucks. Maybe the next party leader will help turn things around.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I liked Jagmeet just no way he would win any more than he did. I actually got the dental plan finally here too. Just had to have an awful year at work and my wife to be off as well on mat leave. We all got our teeth cleaned, inspected and some work done for the wife. Such a blessing. Dental saves a fortune in medical expenses later in life.

Avi Lewis will be the man

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Avi’s politics are good but I worry about his ability to communicate with people who aren’t already in his camp. I wish Jenny Kwan had run.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly, the ndp need a leader that isn't interested in throwing shit at everyone else and talking up their own minor good deeds. I watch the debates and all I see are children. NDP leadership needs to be more serious and less sensationalist. Talk about the issues and keep it focused on the issues, not what the other guy is doing.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We need more politicians who love their country and fellow Canadians as much as Jack did - https://www.cupwvancouver.org/jack-layton-1950-2011-a-letter-to-canadians/

I met him once, briefly about a year before he passed. Came into our coffee shop and ordered some bulks beans. While I was grinding and prepping he was asking a bunch of questions about my work, and the processes we used. Genuinely interested in my fairly boring job. Shook my hand at the end and thanked me for sharing with him. If I didn't know any better, I never would have guessed he was a politician.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm amazed that no one can remember any of the times Conservatives have sold us out to make a buck. Whenever you discuss the NDP someone chimes in with "No way. Remember when..." They seem to be the party that focuses most on being civil servants and putting the public first.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The issue is that true progressives like the NDP were when a Tommy Douglas was in charge no longer exists and the party’s stance on far too much has gone midline.
If they took a more contrarian approach with actual plans one how to deliver they might stand a chance.
Tax the rich, help those in need. It’s a simple social contract

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Racism almost certainly stacked the deck against Jagmeet, but he also had trouble articulating a clear progressive plan to do that. Hopefully the next leader can do that.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wish more Canadians accepted Jagmeet as a leader... I know some think he 'sold out' but his deal with the Liberals was a good move that forced them to push forward legislation that the Libs kept saying they would and just wouldn't.

2 months ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 2

he had no charisma, no real strategy, no vision. seemed like a nice guy but had no good political instincts

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

"No good political instincts" = trying to actually help people without worrying about his political career?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yes. he did a good thing and flamed out and the NDP is now totally irrelevant. not exactly the guy i want in charge

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The outrage against Mr. Singh was so manufactured. You'd ask people what he did that was bad and they'd tell you he had an expensive watch.

He simultaniously prevented a conservative government while getting actual progressive policies enacted.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I loved jagmeet. He lives right beside my district. I could probably ask him for coffee.

Liberals were lucky that PP was so bad.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I've met home twice! Once while he was campaigning and once just bumped in to him. Super nice guy

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My partner has a photo of him petting their service dog!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s not his message. Too many Canadians aren’t ready to vote for a non-white dude in a turban.

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

I wish that wasn't true... it is, I just wish it wasn't...

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

He's not even tangentially related to the "turban wearers" that they hate (racistly), which makes the racism even worse. Jagmeet is good people.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I didnt think he sold out and i do like him. I just unfortunately dont think he has the charisma like layton had. Im happy he worked with liberals to get something passed that actually did help canadians. Its not perfect but it was a foot in the door to make sure more canadians are getting full Healthcare especially seniors. Better than just complaining about the liberals. The conservatives have no coherent plan for anything helpful.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

He wasn't given a great hand. Following someone like Layton is hard for anyone.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think politicians forget to be human. I want a human, not someone mascarading as a good person. Layton connected with people so well. And in the bible belt of canada, you need to be able to connect with rural people, we dont make up a huge vote but we control the natural resources of canada. And are the gate between the east and west.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jagmeet was one of the best in the first point. But people are unfortunately racist
