I know nickels are usually 5 grams

It's a proof coin so there's no wear

Idk if this is normal or an error please help

When they asked you for a nickel this ain't what they had in mind.

5 grams ≈ .00079 stone or .18 ounces

Or 25 carats

The weight of the 5-cent coin may vary not more than 0.194 gram. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/31/5113

So your scale is broken

Nope it's calibrated properly

Most scales you can only adjust the 'zero', you can't actually calibrate.

True I didn't technically calibrate it but I've tested it with other nickels and they're all pretty much 5g on the money lol

Ah! You didn't calibrate, but you did validate the calibration! In that case your coin is defective - or suffers from low gravity.

You're welcome - it took me nearly ten seconds of googling to find out.

You are a much better googler than I

nickel + weight + tolerance - it's about the fifth one down the results.
