I think the confusion might be stemming from your understanding of what comics SHOULD be. I think it's important to receive the context or purpose of the comic from the comic itself, rather than imposing one on it and disregarding the comic entirely if it doesn't fit that view.
That's not to say you aren't allowed to value these sorts of comics, but they can be many things, and this particular one isn't for you, and that's okay, too!
