Maine is part of NEEP (Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships), so the electricity prices are set by average of all States in the North East of the USA - no single State in the Union sets its own prices. So we need a ban on Data Centers in general

Yay!! I love Maine!!

Data centers are generally important, but not the way they’ve been scaling them up in order to accommodate overwhelming levels of slop generation and consumer spying

We need data centers. Our world runs on data, and that data lives on physical computers/servers, and those servers need to live somewhere. Data centers need to be placed with consideration of the electric and water needs of the area, and with pollution-minimization, but we cannot and should not simply ban data centers. That's like banning factories because they can be dirty. They can be, but also we need what they produce, and banning them doesn't solve any actual problems. It just moves them.

Is it Maine that also banned aftermarket LED headlights?

Another reason to move there after; Seasons, Cold, Cobble stone beaches.

So they will ban all AI use in the state of Main as well? Otherwise you just leave others with your mess.

If a company wants to put in a data center in your community you have leverage. Mandate they overpay for electricity. Tax them to the point that everyone else can pay less taxes. Make them purify and cool all the water they use and put it back into the local system. Mandate they give everyone free high speed internet. If they don’t like all that then they can Eff off.

Feds will ask the supreme court if that law is constitutional and SCOTUS will say no and the law will be struck down.

States' rights should protect this, much like gay marriage protection and marijuana laws.

States right should have also allowed them to keep conversion therapy illegal but SCOTUS says that simply isn't so.

Now we just need to get Nestle to pay their fair share for water.

Or, alternatively, to completely implode and take all their execs with them.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even if a company explodes or implodes, the execs get golden parachutes

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was hoping for a more literal implosion
