Yeah. Right. I’ll just hold my breath on that, shall I?

''It is unclear who the hacker is and why they might have done this.'' Why they might have done this? REALLY? That's the question?
1wholurks
Will a GOP controlled Congress give a shit? No, no they won't. He'll get confirmed no matter what he has done because that's the fucked up world we live in now.
Osiricus
This report certainly raised some eyebrows.
Lassannn
At best, this will result in republicans saying, "We don't fucking care what he's done. Fuck all of you. We can do whatever the fuck we want."
sevenfingerman
Trump is going to see it and only feel better about his choice.
hafftrak
Is that picture photoshopped, or is his forehead really that big?

Here's to hoping

Release the info! Do it, just put him on blast. Fuck the lot of them.

If he was INNOCENT, they would've already released the report.
override367
Trump is literally a serial rapist, if anything this helps gaetz
override367
I seriously anticipate politicians going out and raping to increase their odds going forward
dedthingy
Ok, this isn’t nice of me, but every time I see that guys forehead, something just feels off you know
Shiggityshaybae
Every now and then I see a headline talking about something a hacker did, then never hear anything else about it and nothing changes.

hahaahhah YES!! I came in to post this.

My sister used to date a junior official that worked in the capital in Tallahassee and she told me years ago about the creepy guy named Gaetz that was showing her bf nude photos and videos of underage girls he slept with
He’s been a disgusting perv for a long long time and they all know it

RELEASE THE DOCUMENTS!!!
ToSisPoS
I’ve been seeing nonstop [politician] will [face consequences] for [wrongdoing]! likebait since W started his illegal war in Iraq.

Post me the actual consequence for once and I may get excited.
MadamPuddifoot
To be fair, I didn't posit that he'll face consequences. Just that the shit got hacked
opermech
Does it matter, Dept of justice dropped the case. Laws apply differently.
ThatSonOfaBitch
It won't matter. As much as it sickens me to say this, our only hope is Mitch McConnell. He has vowed "no recess appointments", meaning that McConnell plans to force a vote on each nomination.
CaldariBob
Because McConnell is a man of integrity and high moral character, with a solid track record of choosing what's best for his country over his party?
MadamPuddifoot
I mean he's stepping down now, so what does he have to l...
Ah fuck I know you're right. I've really gotta stop looking for the best in people. 😒
TheSpindrifter
Spite. He hates Drumpf as much as the rest of them
SamaelQliphoth
That and being power hungry. The hope being that, somewhat similar to Trump's first admin, the R factions are too busy vying for power unto themselves that they basically gridlock, or nearly so. The serpent is in, so ideally it decides to eat its tail.
ThrockmortonTheSkateboarder
Cool beans. Can we see some consequences now, please?
SirButcher
There won't be any consequences, that ship sailed. The US voters decided this band of criminals was and are above the law. From this point, nothing will happen with them, except if a civil war erupts (and it very likely won't).
Trump lived his life as a slimy douchebag and he will die without ever having to face any consequences for the myriad of his crimes. The law and justice don't matter.
IAmNotNSAsodonotbeparanoid

They'll just go after the hacker, situation normal.

DrBourbonTheOriginal
Congress knows because he showed them, on his phone, in chambers.

Gaetz might also make for a pretty good fallguy if Trump ever needs one; tons of evidence makes it very easy to throw him to the wolves/leopards

And from his previous stint we all know he likes to do that
SadsPikkelson
"Hey everybody, accountability is coming soon! There it is on the horizon. Here it comes. It's coming. It's right there. I can see it right over there. Any day now." - Some absolute fucking idiot who hasn't paid attention to literally anything in 10 years.
Sonicschilidogs
Accountability is coming like a dude on antidepressants.
SadsPikkelson
As a side note, I was (somewhat) this idiot up until the immunity decision by SCOTUS. Why did I think anyone in power would ever be held accountable or that the law could ever actually have even an iota of fairness and justice. How stupid and gullible to think that time would catch up to these ghouls. To think someone who killed a million Americans, committed a coup, and stole highly classified documents would be reelected. I'm done with this country and its people.
FistfulOfAssholes
Accountability has been edging for a fucking decade at least
hipifreq
So here's the way I think this goes. January 20th Gaetz gets a pardon for any federal crimes. He also gets a pardon for any Florida crimes from the Governer. The Senate then says that they can't use any crimes against him for which he's received pardons. Pedobear becomes the next AG
thelegendofthetwistednavigator
A pardon requires you to admit the crime
georgejimmydoodle
Accepting a pardon is admitting guilt, though.
Doom6447
There needs to be an official source that like releases information like this. That and the Epstein files. We are all aware of such things and there needs to be a mediator, that no one can say is not credible. Like a paper trail of the courts showing the investigation that happened and such. Pardon or not the public should know without a doubt, since no one can trust independent news media's anymore. I'm not sure what can be done, but these investigations need to happen by several entities.
vegivamp
I thought we established last time that you can't be pardoned until you've been found guilty. Well, I'm sure the supreme cunt will fix that, but still.
tgeliot
I've never heard that.
vegivamp
It came up a lot in the last days of the first orange looting spree, lots of speculation that he would be writing blank pardons for himself and his cronies just in case they got charged.
@hipifreq fact several examples of it having happened before, though.
Badprenup
I believe it's more that accepting a pardon is considered an admission of guilt. Whether that's considered an illegal admission of guilt or not, I couldn't say. But it's irrelevant because they can absolutely use somebody's character, including crimes that they have or have not been pardoned for, to say "this person is not fit to be in this role and we're not going to appoint them".
They *won't* do that because they fucking suck, but they could.
hipifreq
Nope, you can receive a pardon prior to even being charged. See: Richard Nixon, Vietnam draft dodger, and Caspar Weinberger
thinkybrainpains
Pardons require admission of guilt, don’t they? Or will that change too?
hipifreq
As if admission of guilt will have any bearing on things. See the long list of guilty members of the administration
thinkybrainpains
Well yes but I still wanted to know.
hipifreq
Well yes, but actually no. There's long case history for it being an admission BUT there's also a relatively recent tenth circuit decision that says it's not.
Teratoid
While I agree, I remind myself how much he's hated by his own party. Slim chance he'll be blocked, but it's not worth betting on.
SteveMND
Won't even matter, probably. Trump is pushing hard to be able to do Recess Appointments to bypass the entire issue with all of them.
Teratoid
Well then...
SteveMND
Sadly, his handlers have learned a lot from his first administration. They're trying to use a lot of 'yes, it's legal, but it was never intended to be used that way' tactics to push what they need when they need it, since they are virtually assured of a compliant SCOTUS if it ever is dragged up that far.
BlindGardener
I just wish the Democrats were willing to fight back the same way.
Gruesslibaer
"Recess Appointment" is what Matt Gaetz calls a date.

It almost was, then Russia stepped in. Seriously, that's when the whole "Hilary emails" thing dropped and got pushed on every media outlet because that's who had that information. The success of that gave the Kremlin (by proxy of their assets whispering in Trump's ear) an "in" with his campaign and it all snowballed from there. Everyone, don't forget the details of how we got here! Cambridge Analytica and the misinformation campaigns as well. Controlling the narrative works, unfortunately.

There was a time when his "nasty woman" comment against Hilary in the initial debates would've been the instant and utter ruin of his entire political career. In the past, we've run candidates out on a rail for vastly less offensive and frankly wholly innocent faux pas.
hogeyegrex
Once upon a time, the phrase “appearance of impropriety” meant something.
That anyone even peripherally involved with the modern Republican Party can pretend to any sort of moral high ground is simply risible.
DoctorWookie
Remember when that one guy got too excited and yelled, "YEAAAAAH!!!" and he got runnoft? What happened to that kind of railroading folks out on their asses?
theshinobi23
Hollywood Access? Hell, the openly aired interview where he bragged about watching the children change in his Miss Teen USA pageants, then said in the same interview that his own daughter was prettier than them and could've been his girlfriend...they didn't need to dig for behind-the-scenes footage.
dennydorko
"Just because he says he did it doesn't mean he did it." -literally their argument
RelartOfGivia
Wtf do you expect? Hahaha! Half the red states still lobby to keep child marriage legal.
InkyBlinkyPinkyAndClyde
Or when he said about a 10-yo girl that he'd be dating her in 10 years.
Puvaradivi
He was talking about 10 year old Paris Hilton fyi, for those who don't remember
Madalchemist2018
Dating in 10 years? Did she look 5? Are we sure he wasn't talking ot her younger sister?
InkyBlinkyPinkyAndClyde
Right? I think back then he was still cogent enough to know that lusting over children was seen as despicable, so he added 10 years to be safe.
Sonicschilidogs
"10 plus 10 is twenty, so it's fine"......
InkyBlinkyPinkyAndClyde
And they actually think that. I guess they don't realize most people don't look at children and immediately think about when they can have sex with them. And that even if they have those urges and can't help thinking that, they certainly shouldn't be trying to normalize the idea of sexualizing kids. It's just so fucked up.
