There’s this fantastic board game called imperial where you are essentially shadow investors trying to make money by buying stakes in different countries and using your massive amounts of money to make countries go to war with each other for profit. One of the big mechanics in that game is to collude with other players or even making two countries you control fight to kill off the soldiers before you have to pay them.

The USA is always judged for what it aspires to, and when they don’t live up to it, it’s a mistake or not reflective of their values, but the ussr is only judged on outcomes and not on aspirations, which is insane bc the USA has been nearly constantly at war with poorest countries on earth for 70 years, and the amount of ppl that have died from lack of housing and healthcare is more than any great purge.
