Sorta yes, but mostly what it's saying is that we're defining the sides wrong. It's not about right vs left, it's about top vs bottom.The right is far, far too willing to accept the framing that works for the top, because they desperately want to "stay on top". Thing is, most of them never were on top and never will be.
That's at least 550 lbs he's lifting. All the spotters are necessarily in a bad position to take the majority of that, because that's where he is. If he fails with an injury it could be dropping quickly. The straps are a last resort so it doesn't kill him. tl;dr It absolutely takes three men to catch that.
