I back in because it's easier to back in than it is to back out, unless there's a good reason not to (like accessing the trunk). There's a reason practically every delivery job requires you to park in a way where you don't need to back out.

I can fix her

Will do. I haven't killed any devices with water yet, even with literally no water proofing at all, and I don't believe this one will be any different in that regard.

I don't buy it. This isn't new technology, waterproofing isn't a magical beast that requires you to sacrifice your ports, removable batteries, etc. we've had this figured out for years.

Even my new(er) moto g5 stylus 2023 still only has 2.0. mind you, this phone was much cheaper than the pixel, but that's besides the point. Point is if these dirt cheap phones can afford to put these ports on them, there's no reason you shouldn't get them on $800+ flagships.

My phone was $37. Waterproofing being the reason is just an excuse & absolutely doesn't contribute at all. The SD card goes in your SIM tray on mine, so no extra seals to worry about & the headphone jack being waterproof has been figured out for ages. Also every android I've had (including my pixel 3A) only has USB2.0, super slow.

But you do you. If you want to go swimming with your phone then more power to you, I personally wouldn't trust the waterproofing regardless of the rating.

Hey, quick question. What the fuck?

All it takes is a one time fuckup to lose your license and potentially kill someone. Cars are 2 ton death machines, treat them as such.

I thought 64 was huge considering my phone before that had just 16GB, how wrong I was.

USB is slow, I'm not paying to put my files on someone else's computer (cloud), and having it on an SD card makes it easy to swap to a new phone w/o any hassle if this one were to die. That plus the previous items I mentioned make not having an SD card slot a pretty big fumble imo. especially considering the 'fancy' phones cost more than 10x mine so they could surely afford to put one in.

Headphone jack because I have a lot of old equipment where it's useful to have & I don't want to deal with not having a dongle when I need one. I use it nearly every day.

Micro SD card slot because it makes it easy to transfer files between my phone and my computer, and when I'm out and about and need to, for example, playback some dash cam footage, I can just slap it's SD card into my phone. And turns out even 64 GB is not enough for me. My last phone taught me that.

my 2023 phone still has a headphone jack and a micro-SD card slot. It may not be a top of the line phone, but I'm not willing to compromise on those features.

Oh, I see. Thanks for explaining, I don't get how someone would be expected to connect those dots. I'm going to blame this one on the 'tism

I'll never understand buying a car for software. I expect one thing out of the car's infotainment: to play a Bluetooth audio stream from my phone. Everything else is just bloat imo.

Man I miss CRTs.

I recently saved a late model (2007) from our e-waste bin at work, and this thing is MINT! I have a bit of a collection of CRTs, but this one is easily, by far, the best example of a CRT TV I have. It must have really low hours because it has an amazingly sharp & clear picture, even sharper than my RCA set that's 9" larger than it.

It really goes to show that CRTs are wear items, and the more you use them the more they wear out.

It's about not having to take your eyes off the road, not about blind people.

... while driving feels incredibly unsafe even with modern driver assists, and I absolutely hate it. Trying to change things like audio balance, which I could do entirely by feel on my previous car, is out of the question now. I can't believe how long some of these car reviewers will fuck with the screen while driving while I don't feel safe looking away from the road for more than a second.

Good, along with stupid popout/electric door handles.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of buying a newer car, and it was crazy how hard it was to find an EV that didn't put everything behind a touchscreen. I've seen some cars where you had to go about 5 menus deep just to have the seats recall to a user profile, where that's one (1) button on my door in my car.

And having spent a month with a car w/ a touchscreen, I can say my opinion on them has not changed. having to mess with it...

Maybe on the new ones, certainly not on the older models.

Even Kia and Hyundai has them standard on a lot of their cars. Fuck, my Tiburon has them standard (and they're somehow better than my Subaru's)
